Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems

Well Written
The first 3 chapters is all I managed to get through before I had to drop my class due to surgery. However, they were very well written and easy to follow and understand. I am taking the class in August and will give a more throrough and honest review at the finish of the class.

Good quality, hard on wallet.
Book is good. Wish it was cheaper. This is hard on student limited income.

Not for people that want to develop an intuition for the subject
My differential equations class is using this, and I'm not really a fan. It feels like a lot of key information is omitted for the sake of speeding through the subject. While I can appreciate brevity from a textbook, this one tries to cover ODEs, PDEs, and interweave examples through every chapter. As a point of reference, I went out and bought a separate differential equations book that only discusses ODEs over the span of more than 800 pages. Moreover, all necessary information is introduced as the textbook goes along, rather than this book, which can succinctly be described as disjointed. (Seriously, they try to introduce integrating factors before discussing how to determine if a differential equation HAS AN EXACT SOLUTION). In the first chapter, they discuss general solutions to ODEs without mentioning n-parameter families. All in all, I'm not entirely sure who this book is for...if you're a mathematician, then this book is too sparse to use it as a reference, and if you're a student, then this book is too limited to be of any real pedagogical value. Do better Wiley. This book is a miss for me.

Confused about the binding format
My daughter ordered this book and purposely chose the ringbound format (as opposed to loose-leaf, which costs more for unknown reasons), but what she received was definitely loose-leaf. She really would have preferred a traditionally hardbound textbook, but since that didn't seem to be an option, she thought ringbound at least meant it would come pre-bound in some fashion. It is hole-punched and ready for a 3-ring binder, but is not "ringbound." There is no place on this product's page to ask a question, which is why I am leaving a review instead. Has anyone else ordered the ringbound format and actually received a ringbound copy of this textbook?I am in no way reviewing the content of this book - I'm sure it is perfectly fine. I used the 4th edition of this same textbook back in the day and I learned DiffEq quite well from it.

Excellent.
Very well written. Very good examples. Excellent book to start the journey on diff eqs.

Water Damage "New Product"
The product seems to be used and has water damage to the bottom of the pages, yet the product is advertised as "New".
