Absolutely loved the crap out of this book. Been a big fan of Nasty Gal since the days of when their now-website address used to direct to a porn site -- Kind of miss it (It was funny). Sophia is straight up, blunt, and honest, but also hilarious, down-to-earth, and encouraging. Unless you already have your s*** straight, then congrats, but for the rest of us, whether you're straight out of high school or middle-aged, this book reminds us that it's never too late to chase after what we want. This book isn't about fashion; it's not a how-to for those curious about pursuing the industry or Amoruso's opinions and comments on today's trends. Instead, it's a book of strength, confidence, and humility. It's a comforting address and honor to those of us who feel and have always felt separated from the majority of society and what their conventions, standards, and expectations tell us to do. Dress how you want, do what inspires/ignites a flame in you, always ask questions, take risks, make mistakes, etc. Invest in yourself and create good habits because that extra hard work and personal dedication will only make you a better person. Ultimately, we are not only capable of pursuing our own dreams, but with the right attitude, work ethic, and just being true to ourselves, we can make a difference in this world and in other people's lives. As a twenty-something working with many hats within a fast-growing restaurant startup in what is pretty much an entirely male-dominated team, I can't say enough good things about how #GIRLBOSS gave me that snap back into reality. I've delayed graduating from college to pursue work experience and much of my current skills and talents have been self taught. Though it's been nowhere close to easy and I've contemplated quitting probably at least once a week for the past two years, I've stuck with it and even stuck my own footprints along the way -- even if I had to scheme around some things to get my way ;) The world may tell you there is one straight path to success, but that isn't true, and Sophia is a stellar example of that.Bought this for my kindle, but it was so great, I think I'm going to buy the physical copy for my own personal library. Anyways, thanks to #GIRLBOSS I'm going to go do awesome s*** now... and fix my credit score. Yikes.

#GIRLBOSS is NOT a #GIRLBOOK: #GIRLBOSS is for ANYONE who wants an Authentic Voice on Success and Failure
Me:Guy who loves to read, is fascinated by business and as a result has read his share of business and professional development books. While I do love fashion, this is also not a fashion book either.(aka Probably not the target demographic of this book)I was initially skeptical of this book and incorrectly assumed it was another "teen readers" book with size 12 font. Nevertheless, I am glad my friend Anthoula recommended it to me as it is one of the most refreshing reads of 2014.Ms. Amoruso has done a service for Millenials and future ambitious young professionals. She knows her audience and her success with this book comes from her authenticity. She writes like a #GIRLBOSS --she appeals because she writes with a consistent sense of confidence and humility, and her successes and failures only serve to support this. Ms. Amoruso is like a good friend who's having that deep chat with you in the car or over coffee. No surprise her book is a New York Times Bestseller. As much as I laud #GIRLBOSS, I think one gets the most of it by reading it with an open mind.#GIRLBOSS the book is NOT:*an encyclopedic book on job hunting, career development*the answer to all of life's problems, especially if you are a millenial*a "get rich quick" scheme (Ms. Amoruso makes this very clear early on)#GIRLBOSS is:*an authentic voice and foundation for becoming a strong, successful professional (you still have to do the work, she did)*a springboard for future reading/research in business, professional development and indirectly so, fashion*advertisement of Nasty Gal (this is not a bad thing, it just shows that she truly represents her brand and company beyond the $$$, even though she recognizes $$$ is a big component of business)*great, quick read for girls AND guys. You can be a #dudeboss tooI admit, I own a copy (read it twice, again quick read) and am proud to say I've gifted two copies this past holiday season.Great job Ms. Amoruso. Very inspirational!

I bought the book after watching the Netflix series
I watched the Girlboss series on Netflix and was intrigued enough to buy the book. If you are really interested in Sophia Amoruso's journey, skip the Netflix show and read this book. She is brutally honest about her past, and journey, and dispense a few tips that helped her build her company, compared to the TV show, she is a far more likeable person, no offense but in the Netflix show they portrayed her as a bratty millennial drama queen instead of a intensely driven woman.Do not expect this book to teach you how to build your own business, it's essentially a biography, but a nice one that is quick and easy to read.
