A must read!
I bought this book and others from from C. S. Lewis. If you haven't read any of his books this one is a great start. The first few paragraphs hit home. Buy it, read it and pass it on. Great author.

A very contemporary, utterly fascinating "old" book
This famous book is astounding and completely unique. It is written from the viewpoint of a novice "demon" sent to "bedevil" a young man considering the Christian path in life. His wily old uncle, a practiced old hand wise in the ways of seduction, deception and temptation, writes these letters instructing him on how to make certain that this young man never takes that "fatal" (to a demon) step. Screwtape refers to satan as "Our Father," and getting used to inverting your thinking so that "Our Father" is the absolute opposite of a loving, omnipotent and sacrificing God makes reading the book a valuable exercise in concentration. It is well worth the effort, because not for nothing was C. S. Lewis one of the twentieth century's greatest writers, and he is fascinating to read. I found the book riveting and at the end, more than a little terrifying when the affable masks come off and Screwtape's nephew - and the reader - realize what is really happening and what is really at stake.

A wonderful followup
A wonderful followup to the Screwtape Letters. This is not a letter but a speech to new tempters. Screwtape encourages them and talks about getting humans into hell. This is a great way of understanding how evil enters the world and how not to fall into temptation. Above all, it is an extremely entertaining and fun read. It is similar to pompous speeches that we have all had to listen to at school. The speech is to new tempters but is also used to be rude and point out things Screwtape does not like about the school administration. Unlike when we must listen to such a speech, here we can laugh at it and not need to behave politely as if the person is giving good advice.

Lewis is one of my favorite authors. This book is one of his best
C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors. This book is one of his best. I love how the book is from the perspective of a demon that attempts to tempt humans. It definitely opens your mind to view temptation in a new light. I would certainly recommend this book, well worth your time.

One of the best books you will ever read.
Unexpectedly delightful. What would the devil tell the demon assigned to drag you into hell? Ever think about that? Uncomplicated unvarnished truth most of us don't want to think about, but probably should.

Hardback to replace two essential paperbacks.
I just had to own a hardback copy, having treasured the two paperbacks for at least four decades, until they were too well read and loved; and thus, even with care, now a little creased and worn with use and time. Entropy strikes again.. Now I feel less worried about rereading this masterpiece.

Good as you would expect from C.S. Lewis
Slightly disappointed by the small scale that the "Toast" was.The rest of the book is comprised up of different sermons/speeches which is worth buying/reading the book.
