ELING Tachometer Tacho Gauge 6000RPM for Auto Marine Yacht Vehicle with 8 Colors Backlight 85mm 9-32V

as the title says this product does not work off of the negative side of the ignition coil. I tried multiple different combinations in the 'speed ratio' settings and nothing would work. the needle would not settle down. it would just bounce all over the gauge. this gauge is strictly for connecting to the W terminal on an alternator. the instruction paper that comes with it is not the best either.

Really nice tachometer especially since it is almost infinitely adjustable. My Force 85 HP outboard doesn’t have a standard impulse and I was limited to one or two tachometers from regular boat supply stores that would work. This matched my other gauges and will calibrate to any number of pulses per revolution. If I had any complaint, the sweeper needle is slightly delayed from the actual RPM but on a regular pleasure boat, it’s a non issue.

Wired correctly. Connected to ignition coil and needle will not register RPMs. The lights turn on the needle moves across the entire gauge when you first turn the key over, really nice features and the back light options are very nice. But the tac does not work off of an ignition coil.

The install was straight forward once I figured out the poorly translated instructions. It seems sensitive to noisy power from my outboard as it will occasionally restart and do a full sweep like it is just being powered on. This is more of an issue with my outboard than an issue with this gauge though.

Set the idle at 800 RPMs works up to 1600 RPMs and then the needle jumps all around goes down to zero comes back up to 200 RPMs and stays there I Go backTo idle and tack goals back up to 800

I still haven’t found the correct proximity sensor. Would be nice if they put better instructions

Great item. All you need is a direct wire that goes straight fro m the negative terminal on the coil to the signal wire on the tachometer. This tachometer also allows you to make very wide range of adjustments so that the gauge will show the right rpm for different cylinders and signals. I bought a different gauge before this one that did not work for me as it only allowed to switch between 2,4,6,8 cylinders, and I had pertronix ignition which gives more pulses. This gauge allows minute settings on a range of almost 300 different settings which should cover any type of signal/pulse even if you have 12 cylinders etc.

Would not work as advertised, instructions are horrible, couldn't set up to a basic Marine system
