These are marked #1, but are actually #2
I was so disappointed. The pencils sharpened well. The wood held up. The lead was light, lighter than my #2 pencil. It is not a soft lead.

It's a pencil...
but a well-made pencil, nicely finished. I wish the lead were even softer for marking on smoother materials but I guess #1 is #1.

Just what I ordered
These pencils are for an arts consortium, and they do the job. You can sketch with them. Drawing takes a bit of manipulation with a blender. The price was right, and I am happy I purchased these in bulk from Amazon.

Terrible. Fainter marks than #2HB
What a disappointment. The leads are harder and write less darkly than #2HB pencils. AND, they cost way more. Take my advice and don't buy them.
