I Did Not Think Leki Could Make the Legend/Wanderfreund Line Any Better
But they definitely did. This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a cane. The original fullsized Legend/Wanderfreund was very close to what I was looking for, but the problem with both of those models is that it doesn't break down very small and once you break it down it's not very easy to quickly get it back up to the proper full height. Again, I'm using this as a cane rather than hiking stick, so for me this is something frequently/always used every time I stand up.Like the Legend/Wanderfreund, this is not designed or claimed by LEKI to be a cane. They are very clear about this (likely for liability reasons) on the product tag. However, even though the Legend Micro is not as sturdy as the Legend/Wanderfreund, it's still plenty sturdy enough to support my 6'3", 250-lb body as cane. I predominately use it for balance and a little bit of weight-bearing, but when the adjustment latch is tightened properly the Legend Micro can (and does) support my full weight. Finally! I can bring my favorite cane on a plane, in a car, etc., as easily as a cheaper, typically far less stable collapsible canes.About the only negative to this cane (specifically for me at my height) is the max height of ~39". It definitely limits it to more of a cane height rather than a low walking stick height. However, since I have this to use only as a cane, it's not a true negative for me, so I didn't deduct any stars.I'm currently using the LEKI Legend Black Carbon as well as the Wanderfreund Black Carbon canes equally around my house. One is stored in a corner of my bedroom and the other stored in a corner of my kitchen. The Legend Micro Carbon goes with me everywhere when I leave the house. I've bought a lot of cheap as well as expensive canes, and these three are by far the best money I've spent.

Great everyday walker
Purchased for my dad. Its light weight, sturdy, and good for a NY winter. This is his 2nd Leki. The only issue we has at first is that we couldn't figure out how to get it to fully connect. Finally we realized that the mid point connector needed to pull all the way back and it will click in. (We thought it would just click in immediately and wasn't sure if it would break when adding tension if pulled back too hard)

Leki's new top-of-the-line cane is a worthy upgrade
I have walked with a cane for over a decade and I've tried a bunch of different kinds. Ultimately, the Leki canes seem to be the best combination for me of being lightweight, sturdy, durable, comfortable in the hand, and portable. I initially used the Wanderfreund variant, however it is longer when collapsed than is ideal for my use so I got a Leki Super Micro. I found that this weighs less than the more expensive Wanderfreund line, collapses to be more compact, and feels more solid when walking because it does not have the shock absorber (which is definitely personal preference, I could see how somebody might like the shock absorption feature.) This version fits into my medium sized Timbuk2 messenger bag, I'll be at I have to put it in at a diagonal angle and if I don't do it just right it pokes out.I was super excited when I saw this version, as it is shorter when collapsed and is advertised to be quick to use and solid. I am thrilled to report that it functions as advertised. I love the new mechanism for collapsing the cane, it is very quick and easy to use; vastly faster than the old twist system, which I would never use unless absolutely necessary because it was so cumbersome. I was very worried that this would come at the sacrifice of stability, but this cane is rock solid without any wiggle or play compared to my super micro. The hand grip is the same, so if you like the hand grip on the old models, you will be happy with this one. (I should note that while I do find the old grip to be comfortable, I tend to wear through them after a time which is not ideal.) This cane collapses in a second or two and fits easily into my messenger bag. I'm very happy with it and I'm considering buying another despite the cost!

Strong and light, easy to break down
I am very pleased with the LEKI Legend Micro Carbon Walking Pole. It is convenient to carry when traveling and breaks down to be very compact when I need to stow it. Certainly worth the expense!
