Deffinetly paid for it's self already.
Hello fellow Amazonians, I just wanted to take a moment and tell everyone about my experience with this wonderful product. First let me say I have only a shade tree background in automotive mechanics but do know that diagnosing a short in any vehicles electrical system can be a pretty lengthy and often times expensive labor cost on about any vehicle and unless the one doing the testing gets lucky and finds it right away, pulling every fuse and checking every circuit in some vehicles can take hours and that's only if the short is persistent. Unlike my 02 Montana which seemed to come and go and some Auto clubs like AAA will only replace a battery if it is found to have a problem other then just being a dead battery. I needed to go a cheaper rout then putting my car in the shop and living in the city in an apartment with very strict rules about working on your car in there parking lot forced me to try something different and that's when I decided to purchase this ECO-WORTHY 12 Volts 40 Watts Portable Solar battery charger. Having read all the horror stories about such devices over charging ,and damaging batteries and also car electrical systems I was very concerned even after it came. I was afraid to use it until I received reassurance from the company that the regulator affixed to the back of the panel would prevent my battery from being over charged so after getting AAA to jump my battery one last time and running the car for about 1 hour the battery still only showing 11.2 volts on my meter was left parked for two days and even with a few hours of rain and partial cloud cover the remainder of the time I left the panels open propped up against the inside my windshield and the alligator clips on the battery that hadn't even been taken out of or disconnected from my car. I went out after the 2 days and disconnected the charger and tested my battery and it was reading 12.2 volts and stared like it didn't have a problem at all. I have since replaces the alligator clips and loose un attached wires that came installed on the device with joined positive and negative wires that have a accessory plug on the end I found here on Amazon (RoadPro RPPS-220 Platinum Series 12V 3-Pin Plug... ) all you have o do is cut off the 3 way plug end and attach the wires to the little marked screws on the converter which are clearly marked (+ & -) under the word 'Battery" the plug has a led to let you know its working and also the converter on the back of the Solar panel has a coded light that lets you know when the battery is charging, and when it has stopped. A small easy to understand instruction manual comes with thr converter to explain what this light means when it is doing different things. Now I just fold in the hinged legs and lay the panels flat on my dash when I go someplace and never have to lift the hood when I get to were I am going. Just a word of friendly advice however. If you plan on doing what I did in changing the wires and the way it delivers juice to the battery, Please be sure the Cigarette lighter or aux. outlet in your vehicle works without turning your vehicle on. If you own a care that doesn't that your charger will not send electricity to the battery when it is turned off. This product comes with a soft protective cover for safe storage and it's made with nice aluminum frames and what seems like a hard plexi-glass covered solar panels but even though this thing is weather resistant I'd never leave mine alone outside especially once more people learn how nice it is to own one, I've been leaving it on my 14 year old car now for a straight two weeks and even though it may still be awhile before I put it into the garage to find the problem, I am no longer worried about my car not starting when I need it the most. I feel like if this product saves me the time and cost of 1 triple A membership renewal or worse yet another battery or wrecker bill, it has already paid for itself, I only wish I'd perches one a year or two sooner. Thanks DC HOUSE for putting out such a fine Product.

Nifty first solar panel
Let's be honest, this is a basic probably cheaply made solar setup, but so far it is great. 50 watts isn't much. It comes complete with a 3 Amp controller and is all prewired so you can use it right out of the box. It would charge cell phones and small electrics great and has a USB port right on the controller. It is simple to use to charge up a camping battery too, just connect the aligator clips and point it towards the sun. Yes the legs are kinda flimsy but they work fine and are handy. Mine has some funny looking spots in a couple places on the panel but they don't appear to affect performance. The charge controller seems to work. When my battery was pretty full it seemed to reduce amperage when the charging voltage was up near 13.6. On a discharged battery (12.3 resting volts) it shows 2.25 amps in good fall weather direct Colorado sun. When a cloud goes over, it drops to about 3/4 of an amp. If it is very overcast it still puts out about 1/4 amp. Over the course of a 10 hour day I don't know what the average will be.I'm planning to use it to power a small alpicool refrigerator that draws almost 3 amps @12 volts (32 watts) when the compressor is running. This charges at 13.5 and puts out a max 2.25 amps (highest I have seen so far). So it won't quite keep up with fridge while running but the fridge only cycles on 30-50% of the time it might be enough and I can run the engine for 10 minutes if the battery gets too low.The small size is nice. I can toss it in the SUV if I need it while camping. It says it comes with a transit bag but mine didn't. It would probably be a cheap unpadded thing so no great loss, I'll probably find something around the house to store it in like a book bag. As long as it doesn't fail, I will be happy with it and as a first solar panel it should be good. For the price, and simplicity, why not.

Bad charge controller
Charge controller on unit worked for about an hour. Seems cheap. Will buy again but also will buy better charge controller and not use the stock one with unit.

Expect the legs to break, the handle to break ...
Expect the legs to break, the handle to break, and for it to be really hard to put back in the bag due to the metal corners snagging. Otherwise it works.

Very happy with this product.
I have used this twice so far. Once at the house just making sure it works and then a second time on a camping trip. It works very well. Some other reviewers have mentioned that the legs are on a hinge that is weak. I think this has been addressed since the hinge seems pretty robust to me.

Battery leads hooked up backwards
Goving it 2 stars because I feel it has potential, but because the battery leads were hooked up backwards on the controller it fried the very first time I used it. I didn't notice until I was investigating why it wasn't working correctly and found that the black battery clip was screwed into the positive lead on the controller! I will be returning and/or asking for a replacement, which I hope happens quickly because I leave for a 5 day camping trip in a couple days!

Great package, works well - handle and kickstands will need reinforcement.
Stands and handle are flimsy but for the uniqueness, price and compactness, this is a good package. Even charges my 12 volt camper battery on hazy days. I'm handy so I'll eventually reinforce or replace kickstands and handle.

Great little system to charge our camper battery.
First impressions, exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a small system that was large enough to charge our camper battery. This system will charge the battery in a few hours of clear sunlight and just a little more in partially cloudy. I installed it on a pretty dead old car battery. The battery tested at 10.45 volts before I connected the panel. After an hour it was up to 12.41, another hour 13.64. The size it perfect for portability.
