Great children’s soccer book!
We bought this book for the elementary school library—and the kids love it! Ann is an experienced sportswriter with an eye towards what are the most interesting facts about stars we all know and love. This is a perfect gift for a young soccer fan (and old ones too!)

Great read to inspire young soccer fans
I'm a middle school teacher and read both champion books over the summer, and decided to list them as extra curricular reading for my class. In addition to being well written the books are very relatable in that they talk about real people we can all relate to and their lives. Great read.

One Star
This was listed as a "picture book." It is NOT! Very disappointedl

Also give this book to BOYS
All the comments mention giving this book to girls. That's great. Also give this book to boys. Be the change.

Great for young teens
My middle school nieces and nephews loved both of the “Champions” books. Ann Killion is a gifted writer and an expert on sports. Keep these books coming!

Talks about same sex marriage and kissing her girlfriend
Our kids love soccer and wanted a non-fiction book. About 25 pages in to it they said mommy this says a girl married a girl. They are 6 & 8. Just be aware if you buy this for your kids to read on their own it talks about more than soccer: same sex marriage and kissing her girlfriend.

Intro problematic
Very put off by the introduction of this book implying that girls only like sport's teams because someone told them to, because of pretty colors, or because their brothers like competing sport's teams. Very disappointed because the intro of the boys companion is vastly different and because the content beyond that actually seems okay.
