Established in 1892 by the Irish Sisters of Charity, the objective was to provide the means whereby the local people could earn a livelihood. At that time, there was no means of local employment and the view of the idle rushing River Moy suggested an industry which harnessed the river's power. Gradually, the project of a Woollen Mill factory became a reality and gained a reputation worldwide.
