These are the best!
My Dr. prescribed these to me about 8ish years ago. For me, they help me tune down the monkey brain at night and help me to get to sleep. They don't have the hang-over feeling that most sleep medication give in the morning and they don't exactly knock me out either so it is a natural way to fall asleep. I was glad to see them back on Amazon as it has been a real hunt when I ran out. Thank you to the vendor. Metagenics has proven to be a great product for a few other things I like.

MD supervision recommended
I definitely recommend you ask your doctor about this product to treat stress-induced insomnia. It interacts with other medications, so you should clear it with a medical professional before taking. My story and why I love this supplement follows:My doctor's office recently recommended this product to me for insomnia. I have been struggling with chronic insomnia for the last seven years. It gets better sometimes, and worse sometimes, but it doesn't go away. During what I describe as my worse week, I slept a total of 7 hrs over a 7 day week. One night of this week I took four benadryl, six melatonin, a Tylenol PM and still only managed 30 min of sleep. I was unable to concentrate, unable to relax, and really exhausted the entire week. The last few months I have been seriously looking for a solution to my sleep difficulties. During a sleep study I took an Ambien in order to fall asleep, slept for an hour and woke up 30 times within that hour. My doctor reported that everything checked out and my sleep study was normal. No matter what she said, THAT is NOT normal. What she meant was I don't have sleep apnea, restless leg, or any other easy-to-diagnose sleep disorder.I have tried Ambien, and it seemed to help some until I noticed the side effects. (I now hate it and believe it makes my sleep worse long-term.) I have tried magnetic bracelets (which I feel do calm things down, but don't ensure sleep), sunrise-sunset lamps (which again, I feel are effective at increasing the chance of feeling sleepy but don't ensure the ability to go to sleep), color therapy glasses (which didn't seem to do much of anything for me), herbal teas (the only one I felt like did anything at all was Yogi's Bedtime tea), massages (they feel great, but did I sleep better? ? ? not really, but I didn't get one daily either?), a new mattress (which I needed and love), and so many other products.I had my hormone levels checked and my cortisol is all out of whack. As cortisol and melatonin together regulate your sleep cycle (cortisol rises in the early morning hours peaking around the time you wake up and decreases throughout the day hitting its lowest point in the middle of the night while the opposite is true for melatonin - it's highest when it makes you sleepy and helps you go to sleep and decreases as you sleep), my crazy cortisol levels most likely contributed or at least was related to my sleep difficulties. I am now on multiple medications and supplements to regulate my cortisol levels throughout the day. It is supposed to take about four months to regulate these levels and I have noticed a difference in my energy levels and sleep over the last two months of medication. BUT, I still wasn't sleeping that great on a regular basis.Bottom line, I have been doing everything and anything for the past two months and have adopted the philosophy that if I do EVERYTHING right then I increase my chances of falling asleep and staying asleep. If I do anything wrong, there's no hope of getting enough sleep to feel at all rested the following day. Over the last two months, my meds are improving my energy level overall and calming my stress response down. I am getting more sleep more regularly. Just not that much sleep and not that regularly.Three days ago, I began taking Benesom (which means "good sleep" in Latin). I have slept progressively better each night and have had progressively more energy each day. I wear a sleep monitor and it shows that I have slept more and longer with fewer microarousals (brief wakings that are often undetected but deteriorate the quality of sleep). I have more energy during the day and am starting to wonder how I functioned before this product!?!If you purchase this product online, you should really let your doctor (or PA or CNP) know you are taking it. It is herbal, but it acts on GABA receptors which can affect other medications you are taking. Any blood thinners or MOIs antidepressants? Definitely see your doctor first! Also, it's not supposed to be taken for longer than two months. Not sure what happens after, but if it continues to work as well as it has so far I won't need to take it much longer! I see my doctor again anyway in about four weeks as all of my medications should be changing about then.

Much Better than Designer-Drug Sleep Meds!
My journey to finding this product was a long one, so bear with me as I explain the details, in case it helps anyone identify with my situation. Benesom is probably not for everyone, so I share my story in case it is helpful to someone else who can relate.I had a drug reaction to an antibiotic, which led to horrible anxiety and insomnia. Over a month's time I had one night's sleep after taking a prescribed Xanex, which I really would prefer not to have to take. Unfortunately, after a month of unsuccessfully attempting to get myself to sleep on my own (white noise, relaxation-guided meditations, exercise, sex/orgasm with spouse before bed, Tylenol PM, Benadryl, etc.), I very reluctantly acquiesced to go on anti-depressants and tranquilizers. Over the next couple of months, the psychotropic drugs beat my brain into a fairly regular, but still spotty, sleep pattern. My sleep quality was okay, not the best. Of course these drugs take away my personality, cause me to feel numb emotionally, stimulate addictive behavior (for me, shopping uncontrollably), cause orgasm impotence, etc. so I could not wait to get off of them. I remained on the psychotropic drugs for 3 months. I weaned myself off (per doctor-Rxed dosage instructions) as soon as I had been able to sleep 8 hours or more per night for a week at a time. As I came off, I experienced some sleep difficulties, and recurring anxiety, and I needed a little help to keep me progressing in the right direction.I had consulted a neurologist at the hright of my insomnia, who felt the issue was temporary, and would dissipate over time as the drug that caused the initial reaction left my system (which, according to him, does not instantly vacate your body). I'd had bloodwork and was D-deficient, so he told me to take vitamin D3 in insanely huge doses. That was supposed to affect melatonin. Ever-cautious about altering my body chemistry, I started slowly with the D, and aimed to work up to the huge dose he wanted me to take. I found it did not help my sleep at all.A well-meaning friend had told me about "Earthing" products, which had helped his family get better sleep, and had helped his daughter with sleeplessness. I bought the Earthing wristband set, with two grounding cuffs, to be worn whenever, but certainly wearable at night. This actually helped me fall asleep more easily on the very first night. My husband wore one too, and even though he had not been having the problems I had, it helped him get better quality sleep, and more of it. Amazon sells Earthing brand products, so I recommend getting a wristband, to use in addition to other cures. The wristband helped us both fall asleep faster and more easily, and it helped keep us asleep.I then came across Benesom, which did help me fall asleep as well. Admittedly, this was used toward the end of my ordeal, when many other methods had been employed to help me resolve the insomnia, however, I did find that this made me sleep almost instantly, and I did fall alseep and sleep the night through. I did not feel affected by it the next day either. My husband used it once as well, and it was helpful to him. I would not say this is as strong as a sleeping pill, but it is a sleep aid, in the sense that it will contribute to a state of sleep. I believe its nutritional properties will, over time, assist certain people's body chemistries toward natural sleep, however, as another reviewer mentioned, you really need to consult your doctor about it before taking it. My body was so screwed up after the drug reaction, and ensuing psychotropics, that I genuinely needed a major detox before being in a place where I would take a sleep aid product longer-term to correct something. In other words, if you have an underlying problem, similar to mine, where other chems/meds are in your system and have already caused problems, you want to do all you can to purify yourself from that, and if after that detox process you still need something, then consult your doc about something like Benesom, which is a FAR better choice than the psychotropics, or chemical sleep meds on the market. Benesom is designed more to help your body help itself, rather than to chemically override it, and take over running things. For me, I began nutrition supplements from my chiropractor, and did a detox. I changed my diet significantly. I dropped a lot of weight. I now sleep normally again. It took many months, and a lot of patience and prayer, but, as the neurologist said, I made a full recovery. I wish my doctor had offered me something like Benesom to try, before starting me on psychotropics, which ultimately delayed my recovery by depleting me of the nutritional balance I needed to get back to regulating my own sleep!

Works really well for me
I first tried this after insomnia during pregnancy. My OBGYN recommded it and said it’s what she used because she needed to be able to wake up and go whenever but had a hard time winding down. I have used it ever since. It helps me sleep without leaving me feeling groggy.

Dissapointing
Didn't do anything to help me sleep. I don't have much expectations for over the counter sleep medications in general, but am quite disappointed because with all the raving reviews I thought this would at the very least be an overpriced melatonin. I tried many brands of melatonin and usually they are somewhat helpful for jetlag and other sleep disturbances, but this product had no positive impact on my sleep whatsoever.
