Clingo Universal Mobile Tether for iPhone 4, 3G/3GS, and All Cell Phones and Mobile Devices

Let me preface this review by saying that as long as you think of this adhesive pad as a temporary, very portable solution, it still does its job very well.This "universal" pad is somewhat cleverly designed, but it has one notable failing with a lot of symptoms, namely that each side only has half of the stickum, and they are on opposite sides.First off, it's this way so that it can be closed on itself to keep dirt and dust off of the pad when it's not in use, which is a good idea.Obviously, this means that there is half the adhesion (per side) of a full sized pad.(Let me define a few terms so I can accurately describe what I'm talking about. First, I'm only ever describing the pad in the open configuration, where both sides have adhesive, and I am never talking about either of the faces that have no adhesive on them at all. "Device face"=The face of the pad facing outwards, towards the user, to which the user is likely to place his phone. "Dash face"=The face of the pad facing away from the user: the one that is stuck to the dashboard or whatever other stationary item the phone is to be mounted on. "Stickum side"=The half of either face that has the green adhesive pad on it, as opposed to the half that is just bare grey plastic.)It also means that the weight of the device actually twists the pad at its hinge slightly, even in "portrait" mode, with the hinge at the top. A twisting motion seems to be one of the better ways to release the adhesive, and it's constantly putting that pressure on the dash face of the pad when there's something with any weight attached to the device face.Also, pressing on the stickum side of the device face pushes the non-stickum side of the dash face towards the dash. This means that in order to put pressure on the adhesive to stick it to the dashboard, you have to push on the non-stickum side of the device face before you adhere the device. And then when you push on the device to get it to adhere, it tilts the whole pad somewhat and starts to release the adhesive from the dash.All of this could probably have been resolved by having the two faces of the pad not be mirror images, but, for example, have one face have adhesive on both of the outside edges and the other face have a strip down the middle. But that would mean manufacturing two different pieces instead of two copies of the same piece, which would likely increase cost.It's also worth pointing out that the hinge is a little flimsy. It doesn't feel like it's going to immediately break, but it doesn't feel like it's going to last forever, either.

Hi,The great thing about the Clingo is that it stays cleaner longer than other similar devices. The reason is that it folds onto it self so there is less chance of getting grime on it.The front and back sides are sticky on opposite ends so it stays closed as well. If you commute on a train (which I do) you can attach the Clingo to the side of a laptop and you can see the wireless hotspot easily. How many times have you had the hotspot it in your bag and lose connection and not know why. At least now I can look on the display and see if I'm on 3G, 4G or NO G :-)The second reason I bought it is when I am traveling at a customer site, I tend to use my hotspot so I do not disturb their network. So connecting my own hotspot to my laptop directly means its one less thing to loose.If it loses its stickiness, wash it with water and a little soap. Becomes good as new.Its really sticky and won't damage your devices.It sticks to most Cell Phone cases as well, but the smoother, the better.

I have a Macbook pro which rests on a lap tray. The Laptop has a solid state drive so I use a small 1TB portable hard drive for my data when I'm using it at home. I tried to figure out a way to keep the portable USB drive from sliding off the tray. I saw this "Clingo" device and thought I'd give it a shot. I stick one side to my laptop lap tray and the other side to my removable hard drive. Now the drive stays put for the most part. If the drive gets really hot it will unstick once in a rare while. For the most part this is a perfect solution for me.

My family uses it to hang their cell around their neck for easy access .

This was an awesome cool product that I used for a while and then gave it away as a gift. because no matter how much you use it all you have to do is wash it off and it is like brand new again. The price was great, the shipping was very fast and i will be buying from this place again.

Please do not buy this item. it is a complete waste of money. The sticky bad got bad within a few days. The phone kept dropping every time I went over a bump.

Your device will stick at first. Not much later. In addition, it leaves a residue on the device. Concept is really good; execution, not so much.
