Great for family time
My boys HATE reading and I can't go so far as to say they loved reading this book, but the didn't fight me on it, which for them was a HUGE positive. For my 4th grader many of the words were new and challenging, but for my teenager this was right up his alley. The characters in the story are full and fun. I'm still not sure how to feel about Artemis as a character in general - i like characters I can root for and he's well, a criminal mastermind but he's well written and I did find myself wondering how he would outsmart the next attempt to thwart him. The book is , as always, much better than the movie which we are watching having read the book and laughing at all the glaring errors. If you kids love reading this will be a big hit. If they hate reading, then this might be the book that gets them engaged. It is a quick moving story with lots of action and the fantasy element is done with a couple of rather clever twists and updates. Personally I thoroughly enjoyed the story. 5 stars from me and my family.

I wish that I had read this in my youth
What a delightful book. I felt like I had been plopped into the middle of multiple conversations. My task was to learn the language of this new world and figure out the back story. What fun! I so wish that I had read this in my youth!

Hooked me on the proverbial fishing line
The genre of Artemis Fowl is fantasy. This intriguing and mysterious book puts funny with fear and murderous glee. It is futuristic fiction story that blends horror and fantasy in one combined wrap of a huge success. Juliet Butler, Butler, Artemis Fowl, and Holly are the main characters, who find themselves stuck in a tug of war between their duty to LEPrecon and thieving to save the world. Throughout the story the main characters roles are to defend justice and for one possible time become allies with one another so that they can retain their main goal; survival.I would recommend this book to those who would enjoy semi-long novels with constant action scenes. This book is action-packed and suitable for ages 9 and up. At first it did not capture my attention or interest and then as I read it, Artemis Fowl hooked me on the proverbial fishing line. This book is so interesting because Eoin Colfer, the author, made all of the characters come to life and he also made you believe that you were actually in the story. I would recommend this book to young people that would want to read excellent, intriguing literature.

Delightful Book Series!
I love the Harry Potter books, so was looking for a similar story to help ride out this pandemic. This year I’m all about giving my brain an escape from reality for a while. What better way than reading. I will not say they are as awesome as the Harry Potter books, but I found them delightful. I think children would really enjoy them. I’m an adult and I enjoyed them.

Welcome, Artemis!
I really enjoyed this. HOWEVER, I would rate this. PG-13. I’m old-fashioned and find parts of the book a bit much for children under 13. It’s very entertaining and very well written. Absolutely HILARIOUS! You have to love Irish humor. No, forgive the pun, fowl language, which I find highly refreshing in today’s literature. Definitely a book to be enjoyed.

Read the book or watch the movie but don't do both!
This is a great book but nothing in common with the new movie of it.

Great writing that makes magic and human/fairy interaction believable
Great writing makes it easy to suspend disbelief about magic and human/fairy interaction. Easy to identify with characters, with just the right amount of back story on all of them to make them intriguing. Great job with mixing science and pseudo-science, history and geography with pseudo-history and geography. A fun read.

Cute read
I like the elements, but this book seems to be more about the magical creatures than the human body it is named for. Have to see how the next book reads.
