Manduka eQua eKO Round Yoga Mat - Unisex Exercise and Pilates Travel Mat, Luna Night

I have had this mat for about 6 weeks. I use it about 10 times a week. I'm a yoga teacher and fitness instructor. I use it for Vinyasa yoga, stretch & mobility, pilates and also primal/natural movement practice. The round shape is excellent to have as an instructor. I can easily move around to demonstrate different angles and to get better views of my class participants. The round mat is also great for primal movement practices that use different planes, directions and moving around.The mat is a bit heavy and very bulky to travel with, but that's something I'm willing to do, again as an instructor because the shape really benefits my teaching.I've been folding it in half and rolling it, so when rolled it's about the same size as a standard yoga mat, the problem is that it creates a fold and it is starting to crack into the rubber side (I try to fold it on a different line every time to avoid this).I have 2 main issues with this mat: main issues with this mat. The silky, soft surface (very nice to the touch), is very slippery renders the mat not very functional. I have no hand or foot grip and feel unsafe. I struggle with downward dogs, warriors and bridges and have strained muscles trying not to slip or even fall. I understand I can spray the mat with water to make it more grippy but I don't carry a spray bottle of water with me. I also don't want to roll up a wet mat after class and leave it wet until I'm done other classes and get home (sometimes 3-4hours alter).My next big quality problem, is that the soft surface lining is fraying all around the edges of the mat. It was already slightly frayed when I received it, now it's worse. The material should not be fraying.This mat does not meet my expectations or my needs. I will need to replace it with something that I can use safely and something that isn't coming apart.It's really not worth the price, despite how great the round shape is for teaching. I expect better functionality through grip and better quality overall. It's been a real disappointment and waste of money.
