Wow! I was wondering why I was spending a bit more for an "apple slicer", but I wanted to give it a try because other slicers I have bought in the past have been mediocre. This is fantastic, it is heavier and well made. The bladed side is SHARP and it comes with a cover you can place it in after you have used it. I tried it out last night and it sliced through a large apple easily. I may need to buy this for some Christmas gifts.

Broke on a harder variety of apples; Granny Smith. Great on softer varieties.

I was excited about this item as I had one with plastic handles that broke after 7 years of use. This one looked solid and had good reviews, and I was very pleased with it when it arrived. The handles and weight are solid, and the blades are very sharp. However, we didn't even use this once a week, and within 4 months of use, it broke and is unusable. There is a point where two "spokes" connect to each other which is supposed to be welded to the center circle. This is where it broke. I'm so disappointed after originally being very excited about this item. I thought I was spending a little bit more for a quality item, but despite the nice feel, the construction/craftsmanship comes up short leaving me looking for yet another applecutter.

The construction and workmanship are just as others have described. Sturdy, stable and very sharp. Disappointingly, however, the apple corer's dimensions are incorrectly described. The corer is listed as having a 4/25" diameter--which is precisely what I'd been seeking for the larger Honey Crips apples I love. In reality, however, the corer is only a "standard 3,5" size. If it had had the larger dimensions I'd have given 5 starts and would buy two--the quality is significantly superior to the plastic handled corers.

This is one of the better apple slicers I've used, and as such I have 3. It has nice, heavy, stainless steel construction that makes it comfortable to grip. The weight is really nice an actually helps you to cut through the apple. It's large enough too that it should fit *most* but not all apples. We grow apples and while this fits most of the ones we grow, some larger apples get stuck and are more likely to break it. It also works great with pears too so long as they aren't too mushy.My main gripes with it have to do with how the blades are anchored and also the blades themselves. To begin, the blades seem to just be glued to the centered ring blade instead of soldered. I've had one so far break and it wasn't even during use with a hard to slice apple- it was slicing nicely until it just popped out. The whole blade complex became detached from the handle part and was stuck in the apple (which was difficult to get out). This keeps me from giving this slicer a full 5 stars even though it's really nice and a good price.The other issue with it is more minor. It often won't slice through the skin on the bottom, which means all the apple slices will be slightly connected. They're easy to rip apart though, even if they don't have as nice of an appearance. This problem is very, very minor though and wouldn't affect my rating.Overall, this is a nice apple slicer. It's heavy and comfortable to use, and it will save a lot of time. I use it just for eating apples and also for slicing apples for apple pie. The slices will be a bit thick for pie since it cuts the apple into 6 slices, but since I like big chunks of fruit in my pies that's fine by me. As I mentioned, I currently have 3 of these and I've purchased 4 (as I mentioned, one broke). I wish the blades were soldered better so they wouldn't have that issue.

This thing is heavy duty and awesome. It's solid and has teeth on the core remover to go through the apple with ease. My last apple slicer had plastic handles and broke not too long after using it. About 2 weeks. I'm so glad I got this. It's amazing and it's pretty. Happy customer! I will be eating more apples now. I also use this to cut up apples for my dogs.

Worked great until it broke. It looks super sturdy, but seems like in the end, the cutting parts were pretty flimsy. I’m pretty sad about this purchase. I will have to find a sturdier brand for my apple cutter because I cut a lot of apples.
