Dr. Ph. Martin's Hydrus Fine Art (11H) Watercolor Bottle, 1.0 oz, Carbon Black

I generally like this water color. It makes nice textures. However it doesn't dry well. Especially if you are making any sort of dots & things like that. I've let it dry for ever 24 hours and it still smudges sometimes. This seems especially true when it is layered on top of other watercolors. It feels sort of like a mix of an ink and water color to me.I prefer the Dr. Ph. martin's Radiant Concentrated Water Colors, though I have not tried the black from that line so I cannot compare apple to apples. When this one runs out I am going to try that one.

This stuff is gorgeous. its super dark and lush with the slightest drop. A great way to do thin layers of black on your work or deep swirling pools of darkness. I will be looking into more of this line as the radiant line is not light fast like these.

This paint is such high quality and quite saturated in pigment. It blends well and I am so happy with this product. I will totally be purchasing again!

Love this black watercolor. I'm airbrushing it straight out of the bottle, no need for a reducer. Seems to work best at about 20 psi. Rich black color, but cleans up very easy. I'd probably get more paint for the buck buying a tube, but using this is just too easy and convenient.

The colors are vibrant but the consistency is completely different from the pack I purchased from an art website. The colors are extremely watery and as a result you use them much quicker. The stickers also have a slightly different design. I don't believe they are genuine Dr Ph product.

I was originally looking for an India ink to match the black Faber-Castell Pitt Artist pens, for filling in large areas of black with a brush. This product is not ink, but it works great! Easy to achieve a very smooth coverage of opaque pitch-black color, and it matches the tone of the ink in my pens. I suspect I will use this in most of my larger pen&ink works from now on.

This might last me forEVER. One drop will darken a palette paint well of watercolor to pitch black so be careful!! You only need to barely touch your brush to it to mix a good dark color. I love it!! Doesn’t water down my colors.

The Hydrus line is more wateryBut good

Very good deep black, I recommend

This is a really rich black, that can be faded out into nice gray tones. Works well for spit shading tattoo flash - behaves like India ink, but is re-workable after it dries. Like all of the Dr Ph Martin's liquid watercolour paints, a little goes a long way.

Such a nice deep black! Ph. Martin's never disappoints. I'm particularly happy with the smooth deep black I can get for backgrounds with this.
