Best thing up there!
Just took the kite to my vacation in Chincoteaque VA, and didn't this kite attract more attention, looked beautiful and graceful in the sky than anything next to it. Its unique shape and color definitely stand out in a blue sky, flying low or high up. Very easy (30 seconds) to snap a few things in place, hook it to the line and let it rip in the wind as low as 3 mph or even in excess of 10mph on certain days on the beach. The kite flies perfectly still on a very taut line, almost vertical as the multiple wings catch a good bit of wind. Very stable and take off almost effortlessly in little wind. Strongly recommended. Ready to purchase a few more of the other designs produced by X-Kites.

Great kite. Easy set up
Great kite. Easy set up, picks up nicely in a strong breeze and looks vibrant in the air. I love how it spins. It doesn't come with a carrying case but you can fold it up and fit it back in the plastic sleeve it comes with. Within minutes of flying it people were complementing it and we're asking where we got it from.Update 2016 - flew it a couple times between February and May 2016 and it crashed, and sunk, in Long Island Sound! I was sure it was a goner but I tried reeling it in just in case and Lo and behold, it miracualsly didn't get stuck on a rock and I was able to pull it out of the water unscathed. You need a really good wind to get this kite airborne - I'd say no less than 15 mph. Still give it 5 stars.

Heavy kite that must have at least a medium wind
Looks gorgeous when the wind gets up enough to fly it and keep it up. A bit harder to fly as it wants to drop when the wind drops. Easy to fly for someone with some minimal knowledge of how to fly kites.

Great spinner that holds up well in strong winds. A crowd favorite.
All and all a beautiful kite that handles the wind and fascinates kids and adults alike.I needed to replace my 20 yr old spinner and this one did not disappoint. Mine conveniently arrived yesterday as I was literally about to head to a nearby park to kite for a bit. I had not planned to fly it and instead had a couple of long dragons I figured I would fly. The wind ended up being just too much for the dragons so opened the box and put this one together, and gave it a go.It thrived even in the heavy wind. I lost count of the number of 'oohs' and 'ahs' from Families moving through the park. I let the kids who approached me give it a go and they had no problem keeping it in the air. They had a great time and so did I. I wish more Kids would have the opportunity to fly kites,

Flies real good in steady wind. Easy to assemble but harder to put back into package.
This kite is easier to assemble than what some of the other reviews indicate. The spars are attached to one side of the kite and loose on the other. One only needs to attach the loose end to the same color as it's other end that's already attached. It flies in a light wind but the wind needs to be steady. if it's a light yet gusty wind, it's not as stable. This is true for most kites but this one is more sensitive. The string attachment point was different than what's shown on the picture of the package but it seemed to work OK. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars as the packaging isn't what I'd use as permanent storage for the kite and trying to fit it back into it was rather challenging.

Beautiful kite but...
I feel bad for leaving kind of a negative review for this nice looking kite. I give it full credit for its design, mechanics and beauty but here's where I draw the line. On the first day, 30 minutes into flying (in 20-25 mph wind) the plastic frame sticks pierced through the nylon pockets at 5 different spots, making it unusable. I ended up returning it.First 30 minutes were pretty amazing though. Moderately difficult assembly, easy flight and looks pretty. My two cents.

Good looker and a good flyer
Okay, all the carbon-fiber frame pieces are permanently attached- you aren't gonna lose anything. This is a nice feature, but it makes the kite a little tricky to set up and take down. There's no bridle- the flight line attaches at the leading point of the forward cell. This means it's a little more difficult to 'play' the thing up to higher altitude by manipulating the line. However, if you have a steady wind at ground level there's no trouble- it launches in a surprisingly light breeze, it climbs well, and is very stable at altitude.

Better than I expected - a guaranteed compliment getter
I bought this kite based mostly on looks but also on the quality of other X-Kites I own. I was not disappointed.Any kite with a lot of spars is going to take a few minutes to set up (in a less windy spot) but this kite took much less time than I expected. The instructions were quite clear AND a very nice surprise is that all of the spars are color-coded and secured at one end. That means you won't lose a spar or get confused as to what goes where. Superior thinking! It flew predictably on fairly light line in a good wind (10~15mph) and did not pull especially hard, so any school-age child should be able to fly this kite (with supervision). As with most kites, if the wind lulls, a tug on the line will usually encourage it to climb again.Kites of this type (box) generally require a bit more wind than other kites so save it for a day when the wind is strong enough to blow your hat off.Even with a strong wind, bringing it back down was easy. But don't buy this kite if you can't take a compliment. You'll be getting lots of them. :o)
