Ives by Schlage 481F-716 Chain Door Guard

We have an escape artist 3 year old that can unlock any door she’s ever come across (childlocks too - all of them!) I attempted purchasing a lever security lock but because of the way our door molding is fastened it just wouldn’t work. So I found this little gem, and being afraid it may look cheap, I left it sitting in my cart for a week or so. Then the inevitable happened. I went to change a poopy diaper on my infant son, and without even knowing it, our toddler decided to wander outside...to our mailbox, across the country street. In the two minutes for me to figure out she was gone my whole world came crashing down. I looked everywhere, called her name etc. I mean this sounds pretty dramatic (because it felt dramatic) but when I looked at the clock the whole thing lasted like 5 minutes. Anyway, so who comes meandering up the driveway with daddy? Yeah. I burst into tears and held her because I could even be mad. I literally walked inside, checked out - paying the $5.99 to same day shipping, and installed it in less than 24 hours. It doesn’t look fancy like a lever, but it works!! And the piece of mind it provides is priceless.

In my opinion the chain locks are not genuine Schlage. Better than the chain locks offered at the big box store but not the quality I was expecting from a true Schlage product. The welds on the chain are OK but could be better. The screws that came with the lock are small in diameter and pretty much useless. Go to a local hardware store and buy larger screws before installing on the door.

The screws on this look tiny and cheap. But I do like they product. I’ll replace them with my own screws. The metal is heavy duty and the links look to be attacked well.

The actual lock seems pretty heavy duty and it looks as good as it does in the pictures, however the screws are absolute trash and stripped out almost immediately. If you can get to the store go ahead and go to Walmart and purchase one cheaper because you're going to have to buy different screws anyway.

This product was easy to install, and has prevented at least 8 break in attempts. All jokes aside, it is easy to install, but very flimsy and easily broken, but for what its meant for, it will definitely work. Great for a bedroom lock, for those that dont wish to install a door knob.

Put these in all the bathrooms and getting them for the bedrooms. They do what they are supposed to.

This door chain is a very durable chain for children safety.I have used so many others but this is the best so far!!!! Amazing

I am happy with the product. It's quite strong. I wish I could have two extra screws.
