Howard Miller Kegan Table Clock 645-615 – Dial Light with Quartz Alarm Movement

I want a medium size stylish clock that glows in the dark and can be read from 12 to 14 feet away in the dark in my home theater during movies. This clock did not meet my expectations so I plan to return it. It can be read easily in a lighted room from at least 12 feet away. But in the dark, with good eyesight, it can be seen clearly up to about 5 feet away and not clear but can be figured out from 5 to 8 feet and probably no more than 8 feet as it is too dim. It is back-lit so that the face glows with a gray-white light that is a bit blueish (probably a long life LED). The clock and alarm run on a single AA battery so no issue with power outages. To get the back light to work, you plug in a very energy efficient AC adapter with a wire to the clock. I did not try the alarm, but it is simple analog dial with no snooze features. The clock looks rugged enough to last for many years, but the alarm button might not be rugged enough for daily use for years.

This is the cheesiest, cheapest clock I have ever seen. The case is not metal, it is a very fragile plaster-like substance painted to sort of look like metal. The handle for instance does not swivel and was broken on arrival (in factory packaging). A foot broke off shortly after I glued the handle. Not worth the cost of shipping it back, so threw it straight away.

The clock design Only enables the clock face to be viewed from straight on. This was not satisfactory for where I needed to place it. It was attractive. But was returned as itvdud not suit my need.

I've purchased 2 of these clocks-one from another vendor and the most recent from Amazon. The finish is poor, although it feels like metal-it's a cheap polymer material, the assembly not great and the cute carriage style handles on BOTH clocks have broken off. This product is overpriced for the lack of quality and a disappointment in the Howard Miller brand. I feel like returning both but it's been too long; guess the manufacturer's idea is to buy a new one yearly...

Clock died after 13 months. Handle also broke off from slight bump. Very cheaply made. Way over-priced for the quality.

My last alarm clock was a Howard Miller, and lasted me for close to twenty-eight years. I knew I could not go wrong with another. It is a beautiful clock, but seems front heavy and falls forward when I turn off alarm. The feature of increasing volume of the alarm is nice, something I did not have before. I was disappointed by the fact you have to plug in an adapter for the night viewing (previous HM clock had the Indiglo feature, but used 3 batteries). Would I buy this clock again? Probably not.

I had an older version of the same clock that had a blue night glow light. It was terrific, but the blue bulb burned out and I couldn't figure out how to change the bulb. This newer version has a yellow glow light, but it's not as strong and it's hard to read the clock at night. I assume they changed the color for health reasons - blue light is supposed to disturb sleep. The alarm on/off switch is recessed, so it is harder to find the switch to turn off the alarm when it's ringing.

I chose to buy the Howard Miller clock because i had done my research and this brand is considered one of the best. When I received the clock it worked for less than an hour. I replaced the batteries several times and the second hand would operate for a few seconds and then stop. I like the look and quality of the clock but disappointed that it didn't work.
