Picross Hanjie Griddlers Nonograms book: Japanese Crossword Picture Logic Puzzles (Picross Books)

This was my first Picross book. I am a big fan of Djape's sudoku books, and I became curious about these picture puzzles when I saw a woman doing one on a recent cruise. So when I saw that Djape made these too, I had to try it. The book has instructions for newbies, but once I understood the basic structure of the puzzles and what the numbers represented, I preferred figuring out solving methods on my own versus trying to figure out the solving technique descriptions. (Djape, you should have someone who is not a super-genius write these hints and tips. The rest of us don't have minds that work like yours. LOL!) There is only one "easy" puzzle, which I found was perfect for getting the hang of these puzzles and then I immediately skipped a couple of levels to the more challenging "brain" level ones. Tried an "insane" but got stuck, so have dropped back down to hone my skills some before going back to that one. I prefer the harder puzzles because they have smaller squares so it doesn't take so darned long to color them in. Unfortunately, I'm getting pencil graphite smudged all over the page, my hand, my sleeve, etc. Anybody have a solution to this? Also, for some reason the puzzles are not in order of difficulty and the names of the levels are not obvious as far as which is harder than the next so you may find yourself having to flip to the instructions section to look that up before flipping through the book to find a puzzle the next level up. But other than that, I'm enjoying this collection of puzzles quite a bit.

All puzzles are harder than beginner. The paper quality is great I love the brain workouts.

The majority of the puzzles are landscape but the puzzle is worked in portrait so the end result can’t be seen while you go along. The squares are very big so the finished puzzle is very hard to make out the picture. Extremely disappointed with the book. Some puzzles are good and the paper quality is good too. Overall a bad buy.
