Easy as it gets
Due to recent lawn repair for cable work, we got a section of new sod. Happens to be dry season in SoFlo which is ultra hot and dry this year. Irrigation pump died and it’s not really worth replacing. Sod immediately started to die so I setup a hose end sprinkler which has been a pain to remember to turn on/off each evening. After looking up options for timers, I decided a simple mechanical wasn't really much of an improvement and we certainly don’t need a high end wifi type, seemed like a basic digital type is best bang for buck for simple needs and this unit might be worth spending the extra since it’s the only one I found with brass inlet and outlet which will hold up to the extreme uv exposure here better than plastic. Figure we will need it at new house later this year to water the new lawn so hoping the rest of it holds up as well as the brass fittings. Anyway, unit feels well made, took all of maybe 5 min to setup. Instructions are not really needed but available online. Just attached it 10 min ago, used manual button to set water flow and it seems fine. Manual on/off worked without any problem, has a bit of a delay but it’s only seconds. Will see how it does on auto in a couple hours. Update: it came on and shutoff just as I programmed. Certainly appears to be a well made timer. No leaks at either end, just double check the washers and maybe add a second washer if a fitting doesn’t tighten up before the point of bottoming out.

Rock solid performance and dependability
Set up a temporary drip system when I was going to be out of town during a week of 95 - 100 degree weather and wanted all my potted plants to get what they needed. This one was able to run two separate programs and was simple to program/set up. Very intuitive. Worked like a charm and I'll be using again next time I need to set up an away or simply convenience watering system.

Happy truck washing Man
I love this hose !!! It’s light , durable, and doesn’t kink . It makes washing your vehicles so much easier, especially in the cold winter months. It’s always soft and useable. I am done with vinyl hoses !

ONLY NEGATIVE is it Needs to be in shade...
I have had this and used it daily for a couple of weeks. It is simple to use and works well. If you have trouble operating this time/controller, then you have bigger issues. It is almost idiot-proof!One of the best features of this timer/controller is the large size of the inlet; it is not a pencil size hole like most I investigated -- it is more like a garden-hose-size inlet. It lets a lot of water through with sufficient pressure to water the garden using a rotating sprinkler (covering a semi-circle) on a tripod located about 50' from the faucet. The sprinkler needs enough pressure to trip the switch that causes it to change direction once it reaches the limit and returns in the other direction -- not all timers let enough water through to allow the sprinkler to trip the switch.THE ONLY NEGATIVE so far is related to the display (which I remedied as shown in photos) -- it needs to be kept shaded from the direct sunlight in this 100+ degree weather. I have noticed that in the afternoon when it has been exposed directly to the sun for a couple of hours, the display cannot be read -- it looks like the LCD melted and most of the area is solid black. HOWEVER, after I created a shade to block the sun from shining on the timer/controller, it stays cooler and is now readable again -- like nothing was ever wrong with it. I would buy this product again if I needed another, but I will make sure that it is shaded from day one.

Great hose, sun damage
The best hose I’ve ever purchased. Even bought a second. Very heavy and durable. Great flow compared to the smaller diameter hoses. Only downside is a yellowing color from sun damage. Doesn’t appear to negatively affect the hose.

Lasted about a year . . .
So a bit of a disclaimer here: This timer was out in the full Florida Sun (and rain and afternoon seabreeze) for more than a year before the plastic broke on the female adapter side of things. Exposure to the heat, the UV light and everything else Florida weather puts items like this through likely contributed to the plastic failure. The timer outside of that was easy to operate, install, and use. I switched out the battery once in the year-plus a few weeks that I had it, so that was okay, though my Orbit Timers only require a battery change every 18 months or so. (The Orbit Timers also have metal connections that haven't failed.)Overall I expected to get more than one year and a few weeks of life out of this item. I'm replacing with another Orbit Timer.

Works great when it works
Got this unit as part of our new drip-irrigation set up, and liked it immediately. It's simple to set up, easy to read out in the yard, and does all we could ask. It's only for one "zone," so if you need different schedules for different areas, get two and a splitter or find one with multiple zones.Likes:Big, easy-to-read display, simple knob-and-arrow-button arrangement to set timing. You can quickly set what time of day and which days of the week the water comes on, and how long it stays on when it does. Crucially, you can also immediately set up a short "water now" cycle to test your set-up. The constant battery-level display is helpful too.Not-so-likes:After the first use, the LCD display appeared to get water in it and showed just a huge black blob. Rain Bird customer service said to return it to Amazon, but I opened it up and found no water inside, so I put it back together and tried it again. It hasn't acted up since, but that experience made me question its durability.4 stars for an easy-to-use device that may or may not get weird on you

nothing fits the bottom
Great timer but I cant use it, as the outlet is some strange size that dissent fit any uk connectors or any of the irrigation parts that are sold from professional irrigation companies.literally Completely useless!

Aussie mistake-Read the reviews
So it looks like a standard 3/4’ fitting on both ends but it’s not an Aussie standard 3/4’ fitting the male end (outlet) can be forced with some creative sanding and heating up a brass bib with a blow torch BUT the female (inlet) fitting will not seal even though it screws on tight and I used plumbers tape. With a product designed to leave under pressure with the tap turned on this is an expensive mistake on my part. Between pipe wrench marks, and the forced outlet thread I can’t return this so literally a 1 star definitely shouldn’t buy review is my only option. I hate this since the display is brilliant, easy to set up and suited my purpose perfectly. I’d have contacted Rain Bird directly but surprise they have no feedback option on their website.

DO NOT ORDER IF YOU LIVE IN AUSTRALIA
I'm sure this would be a great product, however I live in Australia and it does not fit our tap fixtures, it is also not possible to buy an adapter to make it fit. This should not have been sold to me, or to anyone living in any country that has metric fittings, which is most of the world outside if the USA.I find it very disappointing that it was marketed and sold to me even though there is no way to make it work here.If you live outside if the USA then buy them from your local hardware store, otherwise like me you will end up with some rather expensive paper weights.

Great product
It fits your average North American garden hose. Ignore comments that say otherwise. It works perfectly, exactly as described. No leaks or problems installing. It is very simple and easy to use. I have it connected inline with a chlorine filter and irrigation system, no pressure loss currently working very well. The only issue I have is that it only waters twice a day and cannot be set to water more frequently, but that information is clearly stated in the description so I am not taking a star away.

Perfect simple system
Highly recommend this unit. This is the third timer I bought. The other two were different brands and failed within a week. This time I went with Rainbird. This unit is robust (you can feel the difference out of the box) simple to program and an absolute pleasure to use.
