From the Manufacturer Sewn from a swimmers bathing suit, Coral Sea Shells loves to imagine she’s a mermaid. When she does, she changes from her bathing suit into a mermaid tail and her hair changes color under water.

Hair changes color in COLD WATER ONLY, REALLY?
My daughter is a collector of Lalaloopsy doll, she probably has around 7 or 8 now. As any other Lalaloopsy, the doll is cute, a lot of fun to play with, and durable. She likes the fact that in can turn into a mermaid and also a girl, with matching outfits to complement each character. The only issue is that the hair only turns color in cold water. Why can't it turn color when it gets wet like Merlia, a Barbie doll we bought in the past? I feel like the people that developed this didn't realize that kids don't take baths in cold water. Nor are kids allowed to play with cold water. Major development oversight is what I think. I feel like charging a premium for this doll is not worth it because of that simple hair function that doesn't really work in normal play (note that this is not priced equally as regular Lalaloopsy but more in parity with crazy hair Lalaloopsy). For that, you get 1 less star. I was thinking it should be 2 less stars but I am still a fan of lalaloopsy in general.

Adorable
Lalaloopsy dolls never disappoint. The quality is excellent, and they are adorable! The big hard heads can make them less than ideal for a younger child (though still fine) but they are a great toy for older kids who still like playing with dolls. This set is particular adorable as the outfit can transform the doll into a mermaid! (Perfect for your daughters' mermaid themed room!) My only complaint is that the dolls hair seems to stay streaked with purple even when not in the cold. We are in Florida... I don't think our air conditioner is that high! I will have to run under hot water to see if that changes the hair back. Or maybe it's warm that makes it purple. I admit, we haven't used this IN water because we are worried about mold. We prefer to change the hair color with a wet cloth.

Poor Coral has definite "water retention" issues
Not sure what other option I really had. On the one hand, an adorable 4 year old girl insisting that this toy was "just the one she wanted"...on the other hand, all the reviews here warning about water remaining in her head and the "magical color changing" not working too well. Well, little girl won out of course; but the negative reviews were right on the mark as far as I'm concerned. She's still delighted with the doll even though the color changing seems to work only hit-or-miss (probably more "miss"). The problem with water collecting in Coral's head has mostly been resolved by following the advice of another reviewer and not holding her under the water. After bath time, Coral spends a bit of relaxing "spa" time in a netting toy holder over the bathtub until she dries off enough to join her little comrade. Since it's during the chilly season, this seems to work absolutely fine...but hopefully there won't be disappointment next summer when she wants to take her swimming in the pool. Anyway, I'm trying to think of this as a bit of an "educational experience" for both of us. For her, that not all toys are always as fabulous as depicted in commercials. And for me, that sometimes a toy is still "just the one" that a little girl wants...even when it's not perfect.

Lalaloopsy with water feature not a bath toy and thats ok
I read plenty of reviews that lead me to believe that it is a tos up whether her hair changes coloror not and that made me think twice at first. Maybe im lucky but my dolls hair changes color she looks great. I love that she comes with another outfit. Her fit is squishy and spits out water. Her hair mold is like peggy seven seas just on the bottom. If you are getting this for a child to play in water I think she would be fun to play with but I think if that is your goal I would go with the memaid lalaloopsy that squirts foam from the head. This lalaloopsy is more like a typical lalaloopsy with a water feature to her head. If her clothes get wet they get weak and need to be washed and dried. So this doll is awesome but not a typical bath toy. I thought she was awesome definitely recommend.

Daughter Loves It, Difficult for the Bathtub
My 5 year old LOVES this toy. She really wanted it for the color changing hair, which is kind of neat. However I have found issues with water getting inside the doll. My daughter wants to play with it right after she gets out of the tub but water gets inside the doll and she has to wait until the dries.I do have concerns about mold getting into the doll if it's not dried really well.Other than that, it's really fun and cute and fun of a Lalaloopsy collector.

Great Doll
My daughter loves this doll!! Best part is she floats in the water, so its easy to play in the pool. She does get some water stuck in her head, but I just let it drip into a towel after I squeeze it out. All in all, we have loved this doll, great to take anywhere because it isn't plush or fabric. It has held up the best for my young daughters "rough" playing.

My daughter loves it
My daughter absolutely loved this! It didn't come in time for her birthday but as soon as we got it she immediately wanted to get in the bathtub with this toy. The hair changes color in cold water and changes back to the normal color in warm water. The only improvement this toy could make would be the color changing in warm water since baths are usually warm. She loves it though!

Made a 6-year old ecstatic
I bought this after Christmas because it was about 1/2 price. Like other reviewers mentioned, the water gets stuck in the head, and unless you are able to squeeze the head just so to get it out, there always seems to be a dribble coming out of it. BUT, my 6-year old is in lalaloopsy heaven with this one. The fish does clear out pretty well so not much water stays within.

Lalaloopsy is lovely
Lalaloopsy is so cute and I want to buy loads more the only thing I would be slightly sad about is when she is in the bath it takes he such a long time for all the water to stop dripping out of her head! Other than that I would totally recommend her, the other Lalaloopsy dolls obviously wouldn't be dipped in the bath every other day!

lovely toy
Bought this toy for my 2-year-old daughter. She loves it. The toy is nice and sturdy. The only downside is that it's impossible to squeeze all the water out of the toy's huge head. Ours has black mould inside due to it.

Very pretty but not a lot to it!!
Bought for my daughters birthday who had seen the advert and was desperate for this doll, have to say although its lovely to look at it isn't worth the money! Now an abandoned bath toy so the novelty was short lived!!

I don't normaly like Lalaloopsy dolls
I don't normaly like Lalaloopsy dolls, as I think are very heavy and not at all confortable to play with. But my daughter wanted it so much that I gave in to her wishes. As far as the Amazon transaction and the quality of the doll I am overall satisfied but my mind about this kind of doll hasn't changed...My 6 year old never admitted that but she doesn't play a lot with it...

Expensive for what it is
Although my daughter was initially very pleased with Lalaloopsy, it does seem expensive for what is, a doll. She uses it in the bath occasionally, but overall it hasn't maintained her initial enthusiasm.
