A Survey of Bible Doctrine

We chose this for our women's bible study, and I was really impressed. Ryrie did a wonderful job of explaining what we believe and why, making it easy to understand. And to understand why it matters.

Perhaps this little book has had more influence on my thinking over the past couple of decades than many many others by various authors. This is not your academic in depth systematic theology book like Grudem's massive work but is a simple, quick, reference guide to lead you to more in depth discovery of theological truth. Since my seminary days I have had tools that would always explain and provide various ways to dissect the word of God but this survey book gives you a quick, easy, concise overview with scriptural references. I bought this book for a friend of mine who is disciplining a younger man, my friend is in his early 60's and the young man is around 40. This is not an in depth theological over view but practical doctrine of what the Bible teaches.

Ryrie has been one of my favofite theologians all my life. This book is a survey version of his larger Basic Theology. It makes a great study guide for Bible study or Sunday School Class. If you like his Study Bible, you'll like this book.

I studied under Dr. Ryrie at Dallas Theological Seminary, and I have taught Theology myself, at the college level (this book was a required text for my students). It remains one of the most concise and accurate explanations of Bible Doctrine (Theology) of which I am aware. I will prove invaluable for both the "layman" as well as advanced Bible students.

I knew it was a used book when I bought it. The first two didn't have any notes, or writing in it, but this one hasquite a bit. Maybe I'll get lucky and the notes will be helpful.
