Misleading product description
November, 2016 original reviewMisleading product description. The Maglite retaining ring from your MagLite has an opening that needs to be larger than the top of this replacement LED bulb. That part of the bulb is 0.4285 inch. I recommend removing the retaining ring from your existing MagLite bulb and make sure that it is large enough e.g. about 7/16 inch. The attached images might be a little technical, but hope that these help you avoid wasting close to $20.December, 2016 udpateI bought a new retaining ring and this bulb now fits into my Maglite. The light has a dark square in the center of the light. This bulb is ok, but not ideal for a Maglite.

Just OK LED's
I don't know why I wanted to bring my dinosaur two and three D cell flashlights back to life but I did. I ordered a 2 pack of the TerraLUX TLE-6EXB for 2 or 3 cell Mag Lights and a 1 pack of TerraLUX TLE-6EX for 4 to 6 cell Mag Lights. These LED's are a huge improvement over the old incandescent bulb, but aren't even close to what I was hoping for.The140 lumen TerraLUX TLE-6EXB produce a yellow light. Lowe's hardware has a 40 lumen LED for about the same cost as the TerraLUX that produces bright white light. The Lowe's bulb either produces more than 40 lumen or the TerraLUX don't produce 140 lumen. I actually like the Lowe's bulb better. I own several small flashlights that produce 400, 600 and 1000 lumen so the giant Mag lights don't hold a "candle" to my small lights. The TerraLUX TLE-6EX for 4 to 6 cell lights does produce nice white light. I screwed up when I ordered thinking my biggest Mag light was a 4 D cell but it was only a 3 cell. I put the TerraLUX TLE-6EX in my 3 cell Mag light anyway and am happy with the illumination it provides. It would probably be even better with more cells. To sum it up I would not buy the TerraLUX TLE-6EXB LED's again. Save your money and buy a new flashlight on Amazon! The TerraLUX TLE-6EX with its bright white light may work really well in the 4 to 6 cell lights. All three of my Mag lights that I brought back to life from the dead flashlight box have new batteries, so weak batteries isn't the problem with the TerraLUX TLE-6EXB.

Perfect fit - VERY bright!
I had an older 4 cell incandescent Maglite that I was going to simply put into a garage sale. A co-worker told me about these LED replacements so I did some research and settled on the TerraLUX drop in. I had no issues with the collar fitting (was still using an old incandescent bulb). Once dropped in, it fired right up! WOW! That's all I can say! What a great product to breathe new life into an older Maglite. I also have a 3-cell LED light and I'd say they're both similar in output. The light color on this one appears a bit more on the "warmer white" side compared to my 3-cell Maglite LED for those that are curious. All in all - I give this product a BIG thumbs up! I'll update my review if anything changes.

Nice white light, but not very durable
The improvement in light output is remarkable, and the light is a good, white, evenly distributed beam. Power consumption is minimal, and I have not had to replace the batteries yet. BUT.... I have had these for just over three years, and one of the two TerraLux 6EX replacement LEDs that I bought has SIGNIFICANTLY diminished light output. I have tried replacing the batteries (the cumulative battery voltage in my 6 cell mag light was 8.9 volts after 3 years) and even tried switching the units from one flashlight to the other... The problem is in the replacement LED. The product details say that the "LED never burns out". Well, technically I suppose a faint glow isn't "burned out", but it's darned close. The device has been used less than 5 hours over three years. I am not satisfied with the reliability.

Great upgrade to my MagLight.
If your MagLight has a "normal" looking light-bulb (i.e. a glass globe set on top of a cylindrical base with a slight flare at the top), and the bulb is held into the top of the light with a screw-on crown, then this is the bulb for you. I agree with some who say the photos don't match what they purchased. As I write this review, the photo is exactly what I ordered, but when I look at the photo on the current link for the item I ordered, it is totally different. For what it's worth, this is the bulb that I received: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31mD0TwOf-L._SL500_SS130_.jpgSome have mentioned that this bulb did NOT fit - they also mentioned that they had new MagLight flashlight. This seems to be where the problem comes from. MY MagLight is nearly 20 years old and this was a great fit. Double check your bulb before you buy it.The reason I purchased this bulb was two-fold: 1: My current set of batteries (4-D cells) were getting old and the light output was very dim compared to what new batteries would cost. 2: I also know from experience that some bulbs grow dim before they die. Given that I was about spend $5 on batteries, and possibly another $5 on a new bulb, the additional $5 to test the LED bulb seemed like a decent option. The difference in light output between the two was night and day! (pun intended) It's a more consistent light - the focus ring on the light doesn't do quite as much with this bulb, but the overall intensity on the focused spot is much more than before. I've seen some bulbs rated with higher lumens, but for my needs around the house this is more than plenty.
