From Out of the Past
The seventh graphic novel in the Peter Grant series. As the story opens, Thomas Nightingale is on his way to a funeral of an old friend made during World War II. He advises Peter that this led to a very interesting case in the 1950s and directs him to a dossier in his records. As Peter reads, we go back in time to both eras to see how his mentor befriended Angus Strallen, how Strallen later joined British intelligence, and then sought Nightingale's help on the case of a serial killer with ties to both the war and to a new nuclear energy project. Not only do we see more of Nightingale's past, but we learn of Toby's predecessor in the household, and also a secret fancy of Molly's, along with a detective story having to do with both industrial sabotage and murder, which ties into a real-life nuclear accident that happened in Great Britain. You do not really miss anything in the Peter Grant narrative by not buying the graphic novels, but each one adds more texture and depth to the characters, so if you have an aversion to "comics," you still might want to give these a try. Molly reveals hidden depths in this issue, and we also find out more about Nightingale's attachment to Toby. The informative text at the rear adds a historical verisimilitude to the story with the tale of the real nuclear accident and also a fascinating article about Jasper Maskeline's role in hoodwinking the Nazis by using magic as a basis for misdirection.

Signed Copy of a Cool Story
I now have three copies of this graphic novel, but my favorite one is signed. I'll be giving the others away as I do with books I enjoy in order to entice friends to become immersed in Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London universe. I especially loved how Nightingale was a focus in this story. I'v enjoyed the line of comics which serve to supplement the main novels. Keep them coming!

Meh
Kind of a comic book version of the pretty great Rivers of London series—by which I mean dumbed down. Art nothing to write home about (Molly!) and compared to graphic novels’ potential, this really is thin. Disappointing. Last one I’ll buy, I’m sure.

Yes this is a graphic novel
Here is a chance to find out more about Nightingale and few other tidbits about past characters. There are two readers of the Rivers of London books, novels and graphic novels at our house and we both enjoyed the story and the artwork. Plus the background information at the end shares some little know bits of British history.

It's good content but overpriced
I like getting the "between the novels" content, but I feel like the price is way more than it should be and the author knows he'll get it because the fans really want the story.

More Rivers of London.
No critic so the story was fine. Disliked the art and the coloring very much.

What a con!
I really have enjoyed the Rivers of London novels and was looking forward to volume 7. No real indication when I bought this that it was a comic. Overpriced co as far as I am concerned and I am very disappointed in Amazon for not making it clear that this was NOT the next in the RoL novels.

It's NOT about Ettersburg
This is a graphic novel, which I am not particularly fond of. The blurb said tit was about Nightingale's past which is accurate but not the part I want to read about

Doesn't deliver
One of the most intriguing things about the RoL series is the mystery around Nightingale and what happened during WW2.Despite the spitfire on the cover, this book won't answer those questions and instead delivers a very pedestrian story. Lack lustre artwork doesn't help either.I don't think RoL lends itself well to the graphic novel format.

Catching a serial killer
Well written and drawn graphic novel. Gives us insight into Thomas Nightingale's past and how powerful he really is. They are on the hunt for a serial killer nazi wizard. They are introduced an old friend from the war and he was in pursuit-of the killer and Thomas helps him get him man one way or another.I smiled and loved the 1950 ambiance of the novel.

Meh...
The drawings are wonderfully done but the story felt weak compared to what the authors are capable of. Worth a read for fans of the series but if coming to it fresh, don't start with this one.
