SMOOTHERPRO Bolt Action Pen with Flashlight for Tremor Parkinson Arthritic Outdoor EDC Pocket Design Color Black (BAP241)

Overall:It's feels like I've been searching for the perfect pen for the past 25 years. What's perfect? 1) Affordable, 2) Writes Smoothly, 3) Eco-friendly, 4) Comfortable. This pen gets 5 stars on all accounts. For comparison, Sakura's Gelly Roll wins on #1 and #2 and an inexpensive metal fountain pen wins on #3. Comfort has alluded me, until now, but I've also never payed more than $25 for a pen.Function:The weight and balance of the pen is great. I don't have arthritis but my hand normally gets tired after a couple pages of journaling. This is probably due to typing more often than writing. This pen forces my hand to relax more while writing and results in less strain without compromising my writing style. The ink that it comes with it pleasantly smooth and bold.Maintainability:I've only experimented with one other compatible refill, the Fisher Space Pen refill (which was a "Frequently bought together" add-on), and that works well. Out of curiosity, I tried a Pilot G2 refill. It doesn't fit but I wouldn't expect it to given the difference in design.Other features:I find the bolt action a bit of a novelty -- something new to fidget with in meetings. The flashlight works well. The batteries that came with it didn't have much life left but replacements were inexpensive.I've only had the pen a couple weeks, so it's too soon to rate its durability; but it is well constructed and looks like it will last a long time.

Got the pen specifically to fit the Fisher Space blue ink refill and the refill does not fit. The Fisher refill silver tip goes through the tip opening BUT the copper barrel of the refill is slightly thicker and does not fit through. In fact it was a pain to get it unstuck; used WD 40 and pliers to wiggle it out. The black ink that came with the pen is fine and it writes through wet pages...I tested it. I may have to check if a blue Parker refill can actually fit.Now, the mechanics of the bolt action is just OK. As mentioned from prior reviews, it gets sticky because the corners of the transitional body piece is cut square and not rounded. I may have to file it down. Maybe design a pen that clicks like the Fisher Space Pen. Also the metal to metal rubbing already has removed the black coating finish around the bolt action section within about 15 mins of use. I think I'l have to get use to multiple scratches on the pen...builds character on the pen I guess.The flash light/fast blinking light is bright enough for daily use. I like the small on/off button. It would be nicer if it also has a red light for night.The three small knobs(?) at the end of the pen around the light opening has yet to be tested on glass, but on first glance, I expected something more of a sharp tip. I guess if it does break glass then it doesn't matter. Both ends of the pen are removable to access the light battery and ink refill. The ends has a rubber ring/gasket for moisture, but of course the bolt action opening is open...not sure if this area is moisture resistant.The pen clip is solid and can spin around the barrel; it is removable.

Would of loved the set screw to be lock tight but love the pen otherwise

I've had the pen for about a week. The build quality feels nice, the flashlight is plenty bright, and the bolt action works pretty well.On the other hand, the ink cartridge is not very good quality, and stops writing often. Also, within just a few days, the bolt screwed out at some point and I cannot find it.For the price I would buy, but I suggest replacing ink cartridge for a better one, and to put thread locker (eg. Loctite) in the bolt threads.

Looks great. Feels great. Light is strong for its size. I put blue threadlocker on the bolt and that keeps it from unscrewing on its own. However the pen doesn't work at all. The ink runs out and then comes back randomly. Will have to buy new refills right out of the box. Not worth it. You are better of finding another pen with a flashlight.

I need to use my pen at work over and over at a moments notice and using two hands to take off the lid was getting ridiculous. So I need a clicker pen. I've never used bolt action clicker but now that I've gotten used to it, this is GREAT. Other reviewers talk about rough slide action, but the maker has fixed this. It's a very smooth bolt action. I really like this pen.

While the pen and flashlight do work as intended and the build quality is good. It does not last long as an every day Carry the bolt slot wears out way to fast not to mention the nut on the bolt comes loose to easy once that happens putting it back together and having it function like normal is not possible

Pen feels solid. Light works. Bold action works but the button did need threadlocker. Ink provided wasn’t very good but once substituted with a G5 type gel refill it made the pen much better.

Decent, cool looking, and bolt action. However the light doesn't work so it gets a 4/5.

This product is very cheaply made and is a piece of garbage.
