From Outrage to Courage: The Unjust and Unhealthy Situation of Women in Poorer Countries and What They are Doing About It: Second Edition

As an international relations scholar with specializations on developing nations and gender issues, I highly recommend this book for those with or without a background in the issues covered in the book. If you already have a good grasp of the problems women face in conflict ridden or developing countries you can feel free to skip the introduction as it generally is a good basic overview of those problems. For those who are new to the subject, I highly recommend reading the introduction and considering it before moving on to further chapters. For some, it might be a good idea to read the introduction twice if you are planning to get involved with these issues beyond your own interest.

Wow! Just being born a woman in many countries is a determent to one's health and a life long of struggle. However Anne Firth Murray captivates the true essence of women across the world with her facts and real stories about the courage and strength of the women of the world. Since reading this I am even more fierce and determined to fight for equality for all.

This was assigned reading for a university class I am taking. I have lived abroad and think this one of the best accounts of the true state of women's lives. It was at times difficult to read, but very eye opening. This should be required reading for all women in the developed world!

Excellent book. It gives facts and is easy to read. I recommend it to anyone interested in women's studies, women's rights and women's health. It is also a good resource to anyone wanting to volunteer or help in any of the areas mentioned.

This book by Anne Firth Murray is one of the best of it's kind I've ever read. It is so starkly realistic and scary to think about how life is for so many unfortunate individuals across the globe.

It’s hard in places to digest the severity of just how bad a place the world can be, this book is very well researched and a brilliant read for anyone with a keen interest in this area, you will feel compelled to help after reading it.
