Hands down this is the best product for this purpose!! It is for trapping food only, not holding water (use a regular stopper or plug or other side of your sink for that). Catches all the food particles when you are hand washing dishes in the sink that you then dump in your garbage or compost.When it's full, you just lift it out and flip it over dumping the waste into your bin. So easy! You can even pop it inside out and shake it if anything is stuck. So easy! Best part is you can also throw it in the dishwasher and then it comes out like brand new. No stupid metal parts getting stained, rusted and covered in grime. So easy!!Also it sits perfectly flat in the drain unlike all those other drain strainers. Makes a good seal with the drain!! No openings or cracks for hair or food or any other crap you don't want going down your drain! No stupid levers or axles or edges that trap the food. No stupid metal ring around the outside (which in my experience those usually aren't tapered or flush with the bottom of the sink so food and hair just gets trapped around the outer ring instead of going into the basket part).I only wish it cost less and we're easier to find in stores. It's just a small piece of disposable silicone rubber, should cost like $2. Either way, in my opinion much much more effective and affordable than all the other options out there. It doesn't last forever and eventually the rubber will degrade and bust through, but that's fine by me. This is part of the kitchen that should be replaced regularly anyway. That being said, mine have usually lasted at least a couple of years. Get one and then you'll hooked and want to stock up, because unfortunately they are hard to locate. Only store that consistently carries them is BB&B and I despise going into that terrible Stinky bigbox nightmare... yuck!Wish I could just purchase them at the grocery store or local mom'n'pop hardware stores!

This is durable. I use the strainer part as an extra layer of protection over my garbage disposal. The plug works well but you have to make sure it's aligned properly. The suction cup for hanging the plug when not in use is really helpful.

Very fast delivery. Just what I ordered.

Lid slooowly leaks but can get you through a dish washing session. Basket is awesome, until hot Korean chili oil stained it. I even ran it through my friend's dishwasher, with no joy. It's now ugly, but it works... Really well. Still drains even when its kinda fu of food bits. It's flexible so you can flip it inside out into the trash for super easy dumping and cleanup. It's even dishwasher safe. But the staining is a bummer.

I had been using those stainless steel drainers that you turn the knob right to seal and left to unseal. Also those that you just push down on to seal. They work fine-for awhile-then they start to slowly leak and you can never get them to work properly again. I"ve taken them apart to clean, done all kins of remedies-no luck.These stoppers present no such problems. I will be using these from now on.

The holes are small enough to keep small items like rice or egg shells from going down my sink drain. They are easy to clean out. The Cover that comes with the strainer makes it easy to make a dishpan of water to do light cleaning.. we have an older mobile home with OLD pipes and it doesn’t take much to clog them up. I highly recommend these sink strains. We have on in each sink.. The delivery time also good.

I do not tend to review; however, wanted to share this story. The house we bought came with Squish strainers which worked great until they wore out. I was not a fan of the blue replacement and so tried two other strainers (highly regarded) from Amazon. I had to return both because when in use, the water did not strain through.I bought these instead (two sinks) and just as happy (sans the blue color) as I was with the originals.
