Q: Is the outside of the glass square? Is it flat when laid on its side? I am wanting to customize the glasses but need a flat surface to do so.

They are pretty flat for about an inch wide. They do have a slight tip side to side though. I have used stickers and engraved them and they look awesome.

Q: Where are these made?

According to Amazon's description, the glasses are made by Pozean. Further, Amazon's link for Pozean states that it's in Guangdong, China, sometimes known as Canton.

Q: Are these good for laser etching? Using a 40w C02 Glowforge.

We bought 120 for my brother’s farewell shot and they came out great when we engraved them in a sand blasting cabinet. I’m sure etching will work as good or even better.
