HHIP 3900-0029 6 Piece Adjustable Parallel Set 3/8-2-1/4 Inch

Amazingly bad that is.Took two tries to actually receive product, was probably a sign when wrong item was sent first time, I should have requested a refund, but instead asked for replacement (bad idea). Now I have bought low price items before and not complained about the low quality because I got what I paid for, but in this case I feel I got a lot less.The screws that hold the adjustment are horrible, several were unusable, and are an uncommon size so replacement will be inconvenient (but possible). Parallels are not hardened (or if they tried to harden them they did it wrong). Finish and workmanship is bad, but I'd sort of expect that for the price, sort of expect it, but not quite that bad. Now if the price had been say, half as much I wouldn't complain, but for the price I paid they are pretty bad.LOL, I just noticed, the price has dropped, a LOT, from when I bought the item, thought not to half what I paid, so I still wouldn't consider it actually a good deal, but for someone who pays the new price it wouldn't be as bad as it was for me (but I did pay the higher price so I'm not going to change MY rating)

I bought them for a project and they work fine. They aren't finished very well however they were parallel. Not too bad for the money. Not going to be too disappointed if one gets damaged.

Out of the package 1. a lot of tiny scratches as if skid across a dirty table. 2. nicks along the edges. 3. philips head screws so tight, i'm afraid of stripping them. should have been hex. 4. i was using tweezers to peel off the paper and scratched one. If this vender thinks this is tool steel, i have a bridge i would like to sale them. you get what you pay for however, these are just crap and the ad is misleading. Back they go.

I'm not going to return the parallels as I am already using one of them, but I think the vendor should know that there is a 2" cut or rip in the back of the vinyl storage case. Sort of disgusting for a brand new item......

finish was a little ruff and sliding surfaces were not clean and didn't slide properly until i cleaned them.

These things were crappy! All were locked shut with dried up grease. I wonder how long they sat in a basement. I soaked them in penetrating oil for 3 days but still stripped most of the screws trying to break them free. I managed to clean them up with a wire brush but will need to replace the set screws. Don’t expect them to be as accurate as normal parallells because of the moveable feature. I found .002-.003 in variance end-to-end.

My mistake maybe for assuming China has the same standards for tool steel as the U.S.? In any case, I work with hard material in my shop (4140, P20, Maxel etc.) these parallels would only work for aluminum. I pulled my file out and easily removed a corner. If you get a chip of even mild steel under one of these then you'll be out a set of parallels before you know it. Returning soon as I can get the chance. Precision ground surface looks and feels awful as well. Maybe they don't realize you're supposed to dress your grind wheel before your next part over there in China?
