Bahamas Sketchbook Hardcover – December 7, 2013

The media could not be loaded.  Graham Byfield continues sketching. His sketchbook from 2013 is drawn in The Bahamas.It's similar in presentation style to his other sketchbooks. There are the beautiful watercolour paintings from him, and the text is written by Larry Smith who is a Bahamian journalist and columnist.The book covers the history of the place and makes for a wonderful read. Many of the buildings featured in the sketches were built in the 18th and 19th centuries, and their architecture are still delightful to look at today.Speaking of architecture, this book is primarily focused on that. While there's mention of the famous Queen's Staircase in Nassau, there's no painting of that.Looking at the sketches makes me wish that I could visit the place one day.Beautiful sketchbook. This is a very nice watercolor book that talks about many historical parts of the Bahamas. The paintings are soft and mostly of historical buildings.We used it to have guests sign at a wedding where the couple is headed to the Bahamas for their honeymoon. This is the only book we could find with pictures of the Bahamas.

This is a delightful, extremely well done book. The quality of the paper is perfect for the sketches (not slick paper) and the illustrations are wonderful. The stories about the pictures are engaging.One inaccuracy I found was the reference to the Sandals resort having being the Balmoral Club - I remember that this was the Royal Bahamian Hotel. I also kind of questioned the influence of people from Bermuda.Anyone who loves the Bahamas will love this book!

I looked at this sketchbook when we were in the Bahamas and didn't purchase it at the time. Unfortunately, I didn't see it again. I am thrilled that I was able to find it on Amazon.

It brings the Bahamas in a new light. The book does a great job and shows the varies buildings and life that Bahamas has to offer
