Perfect alternative to brand-name liner shorts
I've had a few pairs of the go-to brand liner shorts that you see in the Instagram ads. They're great, absolutely love them, but for 65 bucks for a pair of shorts, it was a tough pill to swallow every time I wanted a new pair, or different colors. These are a legitimate nearly perfect replica, at half the price, and great quality. To be honest, I might actually prefer the fit of these Freeballers to my brand name ones. They are a lot less flowy over the thighs, and have a much more cut and tailored fit to them. They fit great, have the same pocket sizes, and are just as comfy. These will be my go to shorts, and I'll probably exclusively buy these from this point on.The ONLY thing that is missing on these shorts, that the other brand does have, are belt loops. You don't need a belt on either brand of shorts, as they are elastic, and have a drawstring, but sometimes I wear these types of shorts to go golfing, and I like the aesthetic of wearing a belt, which I can't do with these shorts. Is it a big deal? Absolutely not. Does it even matter enough to deduct a star on the rating? Absolutely not. These shorts are perfect. If you're already interested in them enough to be reading the review, let me save you some time- Just buy them! Great value, great fit, great shorts overall.

Way too good to be true.
I have 5-6 pairs. Working as a sushi chef and having 4 kids I am trying to always adventure and live the best life in Florida… I never know when I will get wet with swimming, rain, or just get called into work. Very comfortable, especially as a hairy and sweaty man. I used to get a rash until I got these. Always wanting a new pair for backup and always looking through laundry to wear them again. Very durable. I have had one pair with a problem with the stitching. The pockets and the zippers are great. Other than the few stitches- I love them. Recommend to anyone debating on getting big name brands for way more. Growing up struggling this is what I can afford and hearing from friends, it’s not much different. Totally worth every penny!

What are you waiting for?! Buy a pair…or 12!
These shorts are the perfect pair of shorts. Correct length, solid pockets- the zipper pockets are great, and very durable. I wear them for daily around the house, running errands, running/weightlifting/playing tennis- and even to the pool/beach!Perfect all around shorts. So nice I eventually wound up with 12 pairs. Can wear a dark solid color out to a bar with a polo and nobody can tell.I’ve gifted easily 10 pairs to friends who have gone and bought more themselves!Note- their sizing runs small. I am 6’0” 235-240 and wear the XXXL.Also, for some reason when I order the khaki pairs, Amazon sends the wrong khaki freeballers shorts. Has nothing to do with the product- it’s an Amazon issue. Probably will just buy a khaki pair from their website direct.I’ve had some pairs for over a year, they are holding up well. I usually air dry but have used the dryer as well with no shrinking. That being said, get a pair!

Great alternative to Birddogs but pockets are a tad too small
This is a comparison between the 6in Meripex Apparel “Freeballers” ($35) vs the 7in Birddogs gym shorts ($68). This comparison is only between the materials of the two shorts and how similar they are, this is not to discuss the two companies as a whole and the line of products they offer (ie: designs, pants, etc) Now in a true one to one comparison I would have a brand new pair of both shorts but in this case my Birddogs are months old and have been washed many times, so there may be some discrepancies in the feeling of the materials.Comparing both shorts side by side it takes a moment find a true difference between the two. The design and placement is the exact same on both. It is nearly a carbon copy. The materials feel extremely similar. The liner is very soft in either short and the outer material feels identical. However the first noticeable difference comes from the waistband. While still soft, the waistband of the knock off shorts is noticeably thicker than that of the Birddogs. In comparison the free baller waistband almost feels stiff. Now as I mentioned before, the Birddogs are older and have been washed many times which leaves the question: will the Freeballers’s waistband lose their stiffness over time? The next noticeable difference is the drawstring, the drawstring on the Birddogs is a more low-profile flat string while he Freeballers has a string that is thicker and round, when wearing the shorts this difference is nearly undetectable.Lastly the most notable difference, and certainly the biggest mark against Freeballers, is the pockets. Now the zipped pockets are indistinguishable from the Birddogs the are the same size, same placement and same quality of zipper. They are in every way just as a good as the Birddogs. However the front pockets are significantly smaller than the Birddogs. The Birddogs pockets are, dare I say, the perfect size. They are able to fit my whole hand past the wrist and fits a phone with no concern at all. Whereas the Freeballers have a more shallow pocket, with my hand in the pocket my wrist does stick out a little and when sitting down with a phone in the pocket, it does add a tad bit of concern that the phone will slip out.Bottom LineThe Freeballers shorts are in nearly every aspect identical to the Birddogs though offer the extremely similar product at half* of the the price. There are in total three noticeable differences in the shorts with the only true draw back being the size of the pockets. Overall, I would say the Birddogs are (unsurprisingly) the better short, however the Freeballers are a great option for those who don’t want to pay the high dollar price of Birddogs.*Freeballers average price is $35 which is 51% of the Birddogs $68 price.

I’m ready to order more!!!
Simply put these are probably my favorite pair of shorts I own. They are soft and comfortable as well as supportive and allow enough room and stretch to move freely. They have one zippered pocket on the back side that is wide enough for some cash and cards so don’t expect to sneak in a full size wallet by any means.I am absolutely going to order more of these. I have “ The Generals” for now.If I had to make any recommendations it would be to make a few more fun, bright and exciting patterns. Number two would be make them the same price on the website and Amazon, they are $5 more on merited.com.Overall I am very impressed with these shorts and will definitely be coming back for more!I am 6’ 2” and somewhere around 215lbs and a 34ish inch waist and the Larges fit me perfectly.

A better alternative than chubbies
Perfect for the active person. They even look good as regular shorts for non-active activities. My husband loves these.

Buying another pair!
Got my first pair today, they are so comfortable and have tons of give which I appreciate. Definitely going to pick up another few pairs, FYI make sure you buy one size up as the sizes are typically 2 inches smaller compared to “regular” sizing.
