BLUE DIVISION SOLDIER
THE BLUE DIVISION WAS SENT BY FRANCO WHEN GERMANY INVADED THE SOVIET UNION ON JUNE 22 1941. NOT SOMUCH TO FIGHT FOR GERMANY'S NEW ORDER IN WHICH A CONSERVATIVE CATHOLIC REGIME OF FRANCO DOES NOTHAVE ANY PLACE AT ALL BUT TO FIGHT THE SOVIET UNION WHICH WAS THE MAIN MALEFACTOR OF SPAIN.THE BLUE DIVISION SOLDIERS FOUGHT VALIENTLY AND CORAGEUSLY. THEY HAVE ALL MY SIMPATHY AND ADMIRATION.UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE OF THE INTERNATIONAL GEOPOLITICAL CHANGES AND THE INFIGHTING IN MADRIDBETWEEN THE FALANGIST AND THE MONARCHIST THEY DID NOT GET THE RECOGNITION THAT THEY DESERVEDTHIS BOOK BY CARLOS CABALLERO JURADO IS A CONCISE BOOK THAT FILLS THAT VOID; IT IS VERY GOOD STARTINGPOINT

almost no record of battles participated
This book gives you interesting details about why these men volunteered and how they interacted with germans. However, it contains almost no information about the units combat engagements.

Excellent work on the Blue Division
This is where those interested in the Blue Division should start. Excellent book based on serious academic study packed within a short book.

Good Summary
This book is a good summary of the facts and impressions of the Spanish volunteers in the German forces. I liked how it explained so much of the attitude and ideals of the Spaniards and drew the line between the different fascist groups of Germany and Spain. I'd like to meet the author one day.

Fascinating page in History!!!!
so few know about what these Spaniards volunteered for!!! Amazing!!!! Most people think that only Germans fought in the East....So far from the truth!

Division azul!
Wonderful book, very readable! I wish other releases from osprey were this coherent, and not scatter-shot wish random facts. This book does not disappoint one bit, a great tribute to a brave and unrelenting division of the second world war.

Like other national volunteers on the German side these troops ...
A look into those Spaniards who carried their anti-communist feelings from the Spanish Civil War into the Russian front on the side of the Germans in World War Two. Like other national volunteers on the German side these troops were full of misguided romantic ideas but the reality of their story is one other can learn from. I would also recommend the other Man At War book on the subject.

Fairly interesting but lacked much of the operational details of the blue Division's actual operations. This book was much more focused on the reasons for its establishment, its political motivation, and some broad strokes on the leadership structure. I was hoping for something more detailed from a military historian's perspective.

Ottimo
