As all of you know, fireproof safes get pretty humid inside due to the fireproofing material. These silica gel packs are great. Before using these, my safe humidity was up to 70%-80%. After sticking 2 of these in (and 1 into enclosed anti-static bag with a 3.5" hard drive in it), my safe humidity went down to 10% which was the lowest reading my meter will measure to. It has been 1.5 months and and only for the past 2 weeks, the humidity reading has rose up to around 20% and remained pretty stable there. These are pretty high capacity moisture absorbers and even after they absorb their maximum amount of moisture that they can, you can easily refresh them by baking them in an oven to get rid of the water content they absorbed. Another awesome feature is that it comes in a resealable bag so you don't need your own.Pros:- Can be reused by baking out the moisture absorbed in an oven.- Comes in a resealable bag.- Great capacity for absorbing water and lasts a long time.- Awesome for fireproof safes.Cons:- None I can think of currently. Does what it is advertised to do.

I bought these to put into ammunition cans and they seem to work perfectly. It takes about 6 months for the packets to change color, indicating they have absorbed moisture. I haven't had any humidity issues using these and I even use them in my safe with important documents and other moisture sensitive items.Update 2020: I have finally used all of the packets and tried to reactivate from the package directions. The yellow color does not go away even after 6 hours at 250 degrees.

Nothing fancy here. The product came as expected and works great. The "cloth" pack that holds the silica gel is nice a sturdy and should withstand repeated use and also in an environment that gets some abuse. These are a must have if you own anything that needs to be kept out of a humid environment (firearms, sealed documents, etc). I found this 20 gram pack to be nice size to toss in a small safe and in a handgun case. I'd throw two in a long gun case. As with most silica gel make sure you don't place them in direct contact with some wood or you can risk pulling too much moisture out of the wood. Just use good sense and thing will be kept rust free and in great shape.

I mainly use this stuff for my ammo containers. I like to make sure my rounds, primers, etc. stay dry when in the sealed containers.

My primary use for these is to keep ammo in good condition in metal .30 cal ammo cans. GREAT size. I feel confident that these do the job of keeping the interior dry. I recondition the rubber seal on the cans with silicon grease, then load them with ammo in their boxes and drop one or two of these on top. I've had ammo stored like this for almost a year now, in a basement, and when I crack the seal everything looks, smells perfect. I still collect the little ones from misc packages but if I'm serious about keeping something dry I like these.

Living in a humid climate requires taking precautions with important items... this product does the job of preventing mold/mildew.

I'm pleased with this purchase. Silica bags are good size and great quality. However, they are only silica and could be a lot less expensive. If they were cheaper I would of bought a lot more, I'm going to try and find somewhere cheaper because this is a widely used product and shouldn't cost this much for this little. I needed it immediately though and love not having to go to the store and just having things shipped to my door in two days.

I ordered the silica gel packets in preparation for keeping my items from smelling musty while stored in my basement for the winter. It is now July and happy to announce that the packets kept my clothes smelling fresh. I will definitely re-order this item.
