Updated review from 2 to 4 stars. I've had these for about 3 months now and I'm finding that the more I use these, the more I like them. I purchased the 24 color set because I wanted affordable gouache in a range of more naturalistic colors than the garish neon colors in my Arteza set. I had high expectations for these, but was disappointed at first because their consistency was so different than other gouache brands. Although this set is advertised as gouache, the tubes say tempera. These are unlike any other gouache I've used. (I've used Winsor & Newton, Holbein and Arteza.) The Art Creation "gouache" drips out of the tubes and spreads into a flat puddle when squeezed into a palette. Other gouache brands are firm when squeezed from the tube. When painting with AC gouache squeezed directly from the tube, they are streaky and don't cover well. I let my palette dry for 24 hours, then tested the paints again by rewetting the dried paint. This method eliminated much of the streaking. I did enjoy working with them, but they are more like a chalky watercolor than a true gouache. I like the colors and they blend nicely, but tend to reactivate the previous paint layer instead of covering it like a quality gouache product would. One real advantage to these paints compared to other brands of gouache is that these don't crumble when dried on the palette, therefore they can be used in dry form for plein air painting or if you want to take them with you to art class or the cafe. Although I like the colors in the 24 set a lot, I do wish the set contained a true orange instead of the yellow-orange included.
