Far superior to Presto 12 cup
I bought this a week after I bought the Presto. The Presto consistently gave me watery coffee. I tried several different methods and coffee brands/grinds to no avail. I thought maybe I was using the Presto wrong. I returned it and this came the next day and what a world of difference. The coffee was much much stronger and more flavorful. It was easier to use. There were some design cons with this unit that I prefer the Presto:-- the lid's handle is screwed on and since it seals tight around the unit it unscrews a bit (first use actually). This make me wonder how long the lid will last.--Presto has a light that indicates when the coffee is done (not necessary but a very nice touch)-- the chord on this unit is very short, probably 4-6 inches shorter than Presto-- Presto has the cup fill line marked clearly on the inside of the unit, Faberware's is very faint. All in all I like the Presto more cosmetically but who cares about all that when the coffee sucks. This unit gave me a stronger, superior cup. Presto was a big waste of money.

Love my hot cup of Joe from my Faberware Percolator coffee Pot
I remember using this pot years ago. I have tried many of the auto drips and I just don't get a hot cup of Joe and it usually tastes watered down. Love the clean stainless steel look. It can transfer to the table easily. The stainless steel keeps the already hot coffee hot for a while. This pot makes coffee fast and you really get the good flavor of perked coffee every time. Far superior to the drip pots and durable. Excellent value. I bought 8 cup. Works well and makes hot coffee.....hope it lasts as long time.

Didn't last 6 months---disposable, overpriced junk
For a month, this percolator made delicious hot coffee. Then the troubles began! This percolator slowly died over a period of ten months---tepid coffee, limited percolation, tripping the circuit breaker, then total refusal to do anything. Repeated warranty emails to Farberware were fruitless. This brand is no longer what it once was. Now it's the same cheap junk you can get in any discount store, just overpriced.

No coffee makers like the Farberware percolators - love 'em!
I've tried so many coffee makers, and never found one that was so hot that once cream was added, it didn't have to be microwaved. Had always been told the Farberware percolator is the best, but thought with today's sciences to coffee, and how technical & EXPENSIVE others are, can't be. But again, after spending more money on simple ones & expensive high level ones, I've come to that conclusion myself. It's makes the hottest (without boiling), and the most smooth tasting, delicious coffee on earth...The only thing that makes me a little nuts is just trying to make sure the tall tubular piece inside is kept clean, where it's not something of which you can touch its inside. But, even with that, there are pieces of the others that are hard to perfectly clean too. So a drop of soap down, and the hot water rushed through it - or any way you can find - and it makes the best...Will likely use it for life, and highly recommend it...

Doesn't quite get 5 stars
I've never owned a percolator so I relied heavily on reviews. I wanted a smaller one, and I wanted no plastic. I read that some of the percolators, although they might say they have a glass top, have a plastic one, and that these tops need replacing from time to time. I figured the stainless top would never need replacing, and some reviewers felt that Farberware was the best. I bought it to make an unconventional drink made with roasted barley. It turned out a "so-so" product. Determined to find out if it was my lack of skill or the pot, I purchased another - a Hamilton Beach 12=cup with a glass top. I like it much better. The inside mechanism looks identical, so I'm a little baffled as to why one would work better than the other. But what I do like about the HB is that it has a red light when percolating and a green one when done -- the light reminds me that it is on and to unplug it when we leave for work. And I enjoy being able to see the percolating process through the glass, I might keep this one for travel, as the compact size is really nice.

coffee is acceptable, but does not have smell & taste, it is just hot.
The percolator makes coffee promptly, keeps the coffee hot compared to other models, does it correctly. But I have not come across one machine that can make coffee that is aromatic, like cappuccino machine. I have tried many different coffee powders, different grinding size coffee particles etc, but cannot get that good smell+taste. I do not know why.One of these days I will invest in a good cappuccino machine- may cost a bit of $$$.

Hot Coffee
This is a direct replacement because our older unit was taking a long time for coffee to be hot and required more than the normal amount to have acceptable taste. The reason we chose this percolator was our older one was over 20 years old. If this one is as good as that, we'll be happy campers. It's great to get up in the morning and the coffee is ready in less than 10 minutes. It's hot and taste great. We're saving money because we use less coffee and it's plug in for less time.

Not good.
very difficult to read how many cups of water are in the pot. Don't buy the perm-brew filter...it is too small and thecoffee is very weak. Like drinking dish water. Trying another filter. Heats well, but a poor cup of coffee. Blah.
