High quality lathe at a great price point!
I've had my Revo 1836 for about a month now and I love it. I have turned about a dozen projects on it since receiving it and have had a great experience. I mainly turn salt and pepper mills so huge points of emphasis for me when I was purchasing a new lathe were high quality headstock bearings with no runout and a solid tailstock with a good amount of travel in the quill. This lathe met both of those needs and and has been a joy to turn on.What I really like:1. The induction motor is super quiet. The noise you hear from the motor is actually just the fan spinning.2. Power delivery is smooth and consistent. The Delta VFD compensates with additional power to the motor during heavy cuts to keep a constant load on the chisel.3. Sliding headstock to accomodate smaller working areas or 32" turning capacity with the optional bed extension.4. Speed controls are easy to use and the LCD display is very bright.5. The belt change from the low speed to high speed takes just seconds and doesn't require any tools.6. Incredibly stout tailstock and quill. The included live center is high quality and versatile with both a full cone and cup & point center.7. The banjo is long, low profile, and the tool rest is offset from the banjo which is incredibly thoughtful on Laguna's part. You can use a short tool rest even if you can't fit the banjo between the work and the bed because of this offset. What I don't like:1. The spindle lock on the headstock requires you to hold it in to remain engaged. You can use the spindle indexing system to lock the spindle but I think I'm going to put together a piece of plastic with some magnets and a spacer to hold the button in so I can have both hands free to remove my chucks and not worry about forgetting that the indexing system is still engaged. One other thing that I've changed on the lathe is the position of the tailstock locking lever. The tailstock came with the locking lever positioned on the back, underneath the light bracket that Laguna provides with the lathe. This was cumbersome and I kept hitting the bracket with my arm moved the lever to the front of the tailstock by removing and reinserting the 2 e-clips on the lever. When I moved the tailstock locking lever to the front of the tailstock, I took the included lever stop and moved it to the front by drilling and tapping a 1/4-20 hole. All in all, a great machine. I got it on sale for under $2,500 which feels like a great value after a month of use. I would put this lathe up against any JET, NOVA, or Grizzly lathe at a similar price point any day of the week.

Fantastic lathe.
This machine surpassed my expectations, the only thing that would improve it for me is to have a 2hp motor. I have a bad habit of pressing too hard and with a 1.5hp motor I can stop it. But to good thing is it reminds me not to press so hard so it's probably more good than bad. Excellent machine!!

Good but some issues
This lathe is powerful and sturdy and has a load of great features. But it has some problems, mine came with a giant gouge through the ways not what you want to see in your brand new expensive lathe but after carefully moving and unpacking the extremely heavy package there was no way I was sending it back. Oh and that's another thing, this was delivered by to random dudes in a uhaul truck who couldn't figure out how to unload it. Luckily I had a neighbor bring over a forklift but these two guys were useless. The ways are steel, not stainless steel which sucks. And the lathe is way too low, I'm 6ft and i had to spend half a day building leg extensions. Don't get me wrong it's a very good lathe but there are a few things I wish were better and I wish it hadn't arrived damaged.
