SGCB Pro Car Polisher Series S15, 5” DA/ Dual Action Random Orbit Polisher 15MM Variable Speed Grinder Soft Start Constant No Load Speed Electrical Dial Self-Locking with 5” Backing Plate

I decided to test this polisher as it looks like a clone as of a Rupes. Well I’m not disappointed. I operate my own detailing business and I paint cars more of as a hobby and work with several body shops locally. I’ve already polished 6 cars with it and that doesn’t exactly say much of its longevity but I feel it’s a robust machine and it feels great in my hand. The price point is good and I will say side by side with my Rupes you really can’t tell any difference at all. I’m having fun with the machine and plan on Testing more of SGCB’s polishers and tools in the future. I like what they have to offer and considering the cost I’d buy these along side my Rupes machines. As far as the the backing plate, I’ve found no issues. Doesn’t melt anything and heat transfer is minimal to the pad. (You should stop and inspect your panel and that gives your machine and pad a moment to cool down and also changing pads periodically and cleaning your pad of choice will minimize any heat related issues. The backing plate is vented like most and if your not pounding the surface your polishing and bogging the machine down you’ll have zero stall and zero problems. Just adjust your technique a bit and let the polisher do the work for you no need for ridiculous pressure to polish paint to a mirror finish. Happy Detailing.

On the polisher side, this is a great value. The backing plate, on the other hand, can ruin your day.Here's the deal: Before you give-up or return it, try using an intermediate pad between the polishing foam and the backing pad. This simple trick will change many characteristics you may find annoying such as the DA hang-up or stalling on edges or corners.It's a simple fix, just make certain it'sa good intermediate pad and not the cheap stuff... the cheap stuff will melt, I can promise you that (3 cheapies in an hour were all melted beyond recognition. The vented type work considerably better).This unit is strong for it's rated wattage, quieter than most and surprisingly smooth for it's price point.I would buy it again.
