Craft of the Wild Witch: Green Spirituality & Natural Enchantment

I have wanted to purchase a book of this nature for quite some time but hesitated because of the almost corney way in which these things were presented. This is an honest book about a very personal journey. It makes suggestions, but does not demand anything. I have every intention of blending my Catholic/Christian beliefs with my desire to be closer to nature and the universe in this unique way. I don't believe that the worshipping of a God who has a traditional male image (for those of us who can't help but put a face to it) conflicts with my belief that the creator has no sex, and that a male (God) and female(Goddess) image is of our own making. My God/Creator is ageless, sexless and loves me for who I am, not the way in which I worship. My God can be honored in many ways, with many different faces, even if that face is a tree, a bird or a mountain stream. I have found that this book presents the Craft of the Wildwitch in a way that I can integrate these beliefs into my everyday life, a way of life that suits me, as a solitary practitioner. Do not hesitate if you have been looking for some guidance, but know this is not a spellbook, it is a guide for self exploration. If you always felt a connection to the sacred and have found the sacred in the air and earth and sky, then this book is for you.

After much looking and reading reviews on books about the Craft I found this utter gem.The words in this book have struck a chord within my soul. I am a student of Shamanism and am always on the hunt for "new" ways to bring healing to myself and others. As I read through this book I feel so elated as it confirms what I have felt and know yet denied for so long. That I am a Wild Witch.I have come out of the very fundamentalist christian realm which works with so much oppression to now knowing freedom of soul and spirit. This book has shone the light, on my path, even brighter now.I know my spirit guides and nature guides are cheering for me and to you I thank you for this.This book has helped bring change to my life. Change that will be with me forever. Change that was much needed.

This was and is indeed a powerful book it will challange you to sort out your inner demons of thought, clarity, and self created illusions, of who the gods truly are and why we believe what we believe.the natural elements of teaching in this book are great for a new student first stepping onto this path, and it will give you a solid foundation with which to build a very natural earth based practice.you will enjoy it as i did.raven

After figuring out the ritualistic aspects of Wicca aren't for me and have since given up on Wicca as a path, I've been look for books that incorporate more spontaneous practices. I have to say that this is the first "basic" book that address all my questions without hard rules. It's also the first book I've found that has a more creative interpretation of the Wiccan god--he's more a Robin Hood trickster type based on masculinity as heroism and courage rather than virility. I should warn that it is a bit wordy, so much so that if you drift off (like me! LOL) during boring passages it might be hard to get through. That said, it really is worth reading--I've gleaned quite a few nuggets from it just from skimming until I get to the point the author is trying to make. For example, I could probably summarize her entire 5 page dedication ritual into about a page... Don't get me wrong, her prose is beautiful and it almost feels like something classic written 50 years ago or so, just not conductive to my personality type!

I read this book about four years ago and was stunned by its beauty and exquisitely crafted phrases. I remember thinking that it was infinitely inspiring and written with more skill than most classics. Unfortunately I made the mistake of packing it away in an inaccessible location, so I just ordered another copy.

I wanted to like this book, but stopped reading it after the first chapter (not even). I then skipped around to see if it gets any better for me at some point, but it was to no avail. Poppy shares many good points. If you have been doing witchcraft for a while, there is too much over explaining and redundancy imho. IF you are an absolute beginner, then YES, this book is for you! I'll be donating this book.

The book I go to one that really made me realize this is the path I wanted to follow. If you are just searching for your place or if you wonder if you are a witch this is the book you will want to read

A wonderful book for Wild and green witches everywhere! Poppy paints a stunning picture with words that everyone from the new witch to the advinces will be able to enjoy!

Poppy Palin's presentation of the concepts and idealogy of Wildwitch craft are intelligent and thought provoking. I would recommend this book for anyone who has been on a Pagen path for awhile but has not yet found their true way. The way, as presented in this book, is very natural, very simple and clear.

I haven't read it all yet but had to write about how impressed I am with it. Instead of "do this" and "do that" the books talks in words of beauty and feeling that fills that missing connection between the idea of living wicca and actually LIVING wicca. Without all the ceremonial clap trap, it inspiries and naturally gives you the right push in the right direction of being a Wild Witch!

Well written and informative on the subject.

I'm still reading this great book. What a knowledgeable and poetic author.
