City by the Bay: A Magical Journey Around San Francisco Paperback – Picture Book, April 1, 1998

Elisa Kleven is an author-illustrator of many beautiful children's books. I admit I am a big fan of her fanciful, tiny drawings that are magical and imaginative. I wish I were more creative with words so that I could describe how well she depicts the city of San Francisco. She has also illustrated a book about Los Angeles called "CIty of Angels" which truly captures the essence of the city where I live. She is also able to project a feeling of joy about everything she sees. Smalls things are beautiful. I highly recommend any book illustrated by Elisa Kleven and particularly the ones both written and illustrated by her.

When I was still in elementary school, I would always check out this book during library time. I was always inspired by the written description and the intricately detailed pages of my beloved hometown. Now that I was able to purchase this beautifully made children's book, I think back to my youth and reminisce about the city by the bay.

Beautifully illustrated book that selects a few main attractions in San Francisco to focus on. We purchased this in advance of taking our 4 year old to San Francisco and she spent a lot of time studying the pictures before, and then after pointing out everything we saw. Some of the sights we did not go to, and the book was missing some sights that we did see, such as Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39.

This book is full of beautiful illustrations. The descriptions seem more like a brochure than a "magical" children's book. I think I was expecting more.

Lovely book packed full with tons of information about beloved San Francisco! The illustrations are very happy and beautiful! It is amazing how much information is in here; more so than most books about SF. I love this book!! :))) Very happy with this purchase!!!

This was delightful reading for children making a first visit to San Francisco. It made them curious about different places they wanted to see and made it easy for them to share their trip when they cam home.

I like to give books to young children who are learning to read. These children are from England, so I wanted to give them a book that they would enjoy and learn about our area from. The art work is engaging, and I think the kids will read it, looking forward to their next trip here. They have family here, so they do return
