Beautiful Beast. It looks like there are two versions. One with serrated edge on the hollow ground portion of the blade. I chose the full straight edge and it's a steal at $69. Looks like they are unavailable now but if it comes back anywhere under $100 buy it and you will be more than happy with it. Kubey did a good job on the handle on this model. That was my biggest concern prior to purchase but it is ergonomic, and the tang and scales fit and finish is much better than their previous wood handled fixed blades. The edge is top notch out of box. Never of a concern of mine with Kubey. Once the protectant is removed a beautiful satin finish emerges. BK9 and PM2 in comparison pics.To the reviewer who said the sheath rattles I thought I had the same exact same problem. But it turns out I wasn't fully seating it in place. Once I did, I can't generate a rattle even if I try. It's super tight. If you're not seeing blade in the drainage hole, push harder.

I now own five fixed blade Kubey knives and six folder Kubey knives. The Ku218 was mailed in a box within a large envelope. Knife was not sheathed or protected and tip penetrated the Kubey knife box, went through the envelope and hit hard objects during shipping causing a destroyed tip. I reworked the tip to repair the damage. Large knives unless protected are prone to damage. Shame on Amazon for poor packaging and shipping. Shame on Kubey for not boxing and protecting their big, heavy knife better. The knife itself is well made out of Chinese D-2 steel. Do not believe it compares to USA made D-2 steel but never the less it is very close and good steel. Rosewood handles (well fitted) are beautiful and pins are a nice copper. Blade is ground evenly and sharp. Kydex sheath holds the blade loosely and does not secure it compared to my other Kubey knives with Kydex sheathes (poor design) and this plus the damage during shipping is why I took off one star. Bottom line is you cannot beat the price for such a well designed, well made large knife using very good grade steel. Fit and finish is superb, just like all my Kubey knives. I would easily compare it to a $150 - $200 high quality knife. All my other large blade knives use 1095 (.95% carbon) or 1060 (.56-.64%) carbon spring steel. Hard to beat two proven steels. We will see how this D2 (1.50-1.60%) carbon steel with high chromium content holds up. I know one thing, it will be harder to sharpen. This is not a survival knife as advertised. At most it is a camp knife or collectable . Buy it, you will not be disappointed assuming it arrives undamaged. Listen up Kubey and Amazon on packaging and shipping!!!! It's a beast and it's really sharp , I have alot of kubey folder's but I have started to collect their fixed blade I purchase this one on their website and I'm very impressed with this knife, I couldn't get it locked in the sheath until I read from one other reviewer that it takes a little force and he was right , it works great without any wiggle!

Alright kubey ik you boys make the knives of all time. I have a 45 dollar folding pocket knife from you guys d2 steal and this knife has ripped up nails staples and has done some heavy duty work without ever thinking the tip was under any danger what so ever. So ik for a fact you over did it this time lmaooo.
