How to Play the Trumpet: A Beginner’s Guide to Learning the Trumpet Basics, Reading Music, and Playing Songs with Audio Recordings (Brass Instruments for Beginners)

Fantastic for absolute beginners, but a slight problem.
This book is totally appropriate and excellent for someone picking up the trumpet for the very first time. It covers all of the necessary basics of the instrument along with the basics of learning to read music. It's very nice that fingering charts and audio examples are included. But this is where the problem is . The audio examples are hosted on SoundCloud and they are great. The problem is there are few files that are missing, hopefully the author will see this and add the missing files. Specifically files 10, 11 and 12 are missing form SoundCloud. Otherwise completely wonderful and helpful book to start with.

Too wordy, Not for children
I was looking for a beginner trumpet book for one of my piano students wanting to learn trumpet. This is completely inappropriate for children, or for that matter, it's not a beginner trumet book, but a wordy book about Trumpets.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY
There are pages of written text on how to play. But there are very few songs written in notation. If a collection of songs written in musical notations is what you seek DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. You get maybe three or four songs written in musical notation. That's it. Also the book is too small to read from a music stand. Overall avoid this book.

OK but could use editing.
It is a true beginner's book, and that's what I was expecting. However, the poor editing is inexcusable for a published book. For example, the word processor error: "Error No text of specified style in document." couldn't have missed by an editor, as it is at the top of almost every page. The book is filled with colloquialisms, which makes it suitable only for children. The hype certainly doesn't live up to the reality. Still, it is useful as a fifteen minute introduction. Buy it, read it, and move on to a more serious tutorial.

Good fundamentals
This does a good job of covering the fundamentals that one needs to begin playing the trumpet - names of the parts, how to take care of the instrument, etc., not just notes and finger position.

It was not what I expected.
It was not exactly what I expected. It's a bit of a dry read. It's more on the history side of learning the trumpet. It's less of a music book and more on the technical side of playing the trumpet. It has some good information but not a lot. That's why I gave it three stars.

Expected directions to pay the instrument
This book went in-depth about how the instrument was made, when it was first made. This book was to be a gift for a child. The child would have gotten bored with all the reading. I would not recommend this book for learning to play the instrument.

Mostly trying to sell online videos and lessons.
Very tiny, not much information, mostly a sales pitch. Not recommended.

That this is not ideal for people in developing countries.
The first page mentions ‘listening example, listen to tracks 1a-1c’. How are people supposed to do that?
