Kalles Kaviar Creamed Smoked Fish Roe Spread 190g

It's like Marmite - heaven or nauseous hell. Like many Swedes, I'm an addict. A gentle, almost sweet, splurge of mild fishiness on buttered toast, it makes the ultimate accopaniment to boiled eggs. Toast soldiers, butter, and a smear of Kalles, a heavenly breakfast.

Unless you grew up on this or have terrible tastebuds ,do. Not. Buy. This kaviar. I think they shouldn't market this as kaviar it sends the wrong singles to one's brain. The salty, smooth,delicious pop of true kaviar is missing in this kalles . Have you ever eaten raw dried anchovies they are bitter especially the heads but that bitterness is good for the health once cooked its still bitter but subdued with a bit of sweetness. Anyway the reason many don't recommend eating raw dried anchovies cause they are bitter and gritty with sand especially the heads that's why they are soaked before use.I was anticipating this so called kalles to be actual caviar in a tube thinking it will last longer. But all I tasted was the bitterness of those dried raw anchovies I once had in Tanzania even down to the sandy grit I guess they were trying to mimic the pop of actual caviar.The price although I wouldn't buy this again ever ,anywhere, is utterly unreasonable for the size and taste. But for those who actually think this is tasty 3pounds max for this size and taste. But even then it's kind of stretching it.I've given it 1star because it arrived on time as promised. That's the only reason it deserved a star

Absolutely delicious. Love this stuff.Very, very salty though.A lovely reminder of home, however I wont buy from here again as I've found it at half the price elsewhere.

Tasted it first in Sweden and have it as a treat now and again. Not everyone’s taste as it is quite salty but I like it.

I normally love fishy tasting things so had high hopes for this ... however it does not taste very nice at allIt's quite sweet tasting which just doesn't go with the fish taste, in fact the sweetness is rather over poweringI won't be buying this again
