Elvis-Straight Up, Volume 1, By Joe Esposito and Joe Russo

Found this an excellent read from one of Elvis' close friends, Joe Esposito. Tells it how it was but with the compassion the story needs. I couldn't put the book down & had read it the day it arrived! I've read many books over the years on Elvis, some I've finished & some I didn't want to finish!!, but you can tell when a true friend of Elvis has written a book! When they start to tell you about Elvis, who was just an ordinary man with ordinary every day needs, but had to live with an amazing & extraordinary talent never seen before, or since, & the pressures it brought to his life. To tell of the generosity of a man who wanted to share his wealth with anybody & everybody, as Elvis would always remember where he had come from & that he felt he owed us, his fans, for everything he had! Yes he had faults, who hasn't?, but the media, along with the money grabbing 'friends' only seems to want to highlight & sometimes exaggerate these faults as if taking pleasure in always putting him down! As I class myself as a 'True' Elvis fan, of course I acknowledge this unfortunate & sad part of Elvis' life, but it never detracts me from this God given talent this humble man had! Joe writes with honesty but has the sensitivity & loyalty to a man who became his friend & offered him a chance to be a part of an amazing life!

Flimsy book, more like a lengthy pamphlet than a book so not exactly what was expected

Small book but as expected

Great book stories about Elvis from diamond Joe esposito

Very amateur attempt at writing about the greatest singer and entertainer ever. Very little insight that I thought a person who had been so close for so many years should have.
