After Ever Happy

Intense but wow
At first this series reminded me of an angsty teen 50 shades. But this is more emotionally provoking. Well written and intense. I could not put these books down and averaged 1-2days on each. I stayed up until 4 in the morning some days without even realizing it. Was this relationship toxic at times? Hell yes. Did I want to throw my kindle across the room at times? Hell yes. I laughed. I cried. I lived in Tessa's and Hardin's world as if it were my own. And while people may not agree with what was written and themes of toxic relationships etc. I beg to differ. This addressed real things but it didn't glorify them. Is some of it unrealistic? Of course but isn't it the fun part of fiction? To escape. To dream. To live. These books had me on the edge of my seat. Brought out emotions I haven't felt reading in a long time. And to draw out emotions and place you in the book, not just have you read words, is the art of writing.

Worth every single second
I started this entire series about 3 days ago. I could not stop reading it. When I say I couldn't stop, I mean it. I read from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep. I read while getting kids ready for school, taking a bath, cooking dinner, working. I could not stop. I couldn't. This entire story has left me breathless and in tears more times than I care to admit. This is more than your standard angst. It's more than the characters trying to fix each other. It isn't easy. None of this series is easy. It's cruel and heartless and dark and struggle and weakness, but in the end, it's about finding yourself and your worth and feeling worthy enough to accept the love someone else gives you. It's not your typical college romance. It's so much more than that. It's worth the time it takes to read. It is worth every second.

The Best in the Series!
Finally after all the drama and the angst we come to the end of Tess and Hardin's story in After Ever Happy and this is by far my favorite book in the series! Now I'm not saying that there is not drama in this book, because c'mon.. this is Tess and Hardin we are talking about, but for once everything that they go through makes sense and takes them to where they need to be!After Ever Happy picks right up where After We Fell ended and Anna Todd takes us on one last final crazy ride with these amazing characters. Hardin's character really stuck out in this book and he shows how much he has grown and changed throughout this series. Sure we all probably hated his guts after finishing After We Fell, but the way he comes through time and time again and the way he is there for Tessa time and time again in this book really shows he's not the punk kid we met in After. I fell in love with him all over again in this book and I wanted to strangle Tessa so many times for pushing him away. Granted, I understood her reasoning and I think what she did ended up helping everything in the end, but man I wanted to slap her so many times in this book!Without giving anything away, I will say these two go through more in this book than I think they did in any of the previous books, but they handle it so much better. We get to see them grow, and truly come into their own and seeing the growth in both of them is beautiful. Seeing them stand on their own, learn from their past mistakes and build relationships around them is amazing and heartbreaking at the same time (trust me, you'll understand once you read this book). This was a beautiful ending to Hardin and Tessa's story and I didn't want it to end, but the way it ended was AMAZING. I loved the extended epilogue and how everything fell into place exactly as it should have. If you haven't one-clicked this series yet, trust me, you need to (unless you hate drama and angst). I got sucked in and haven't been able to put these books down! I definitely will be picking up Landon's stories soon because well, I need to see who he ended up with as well!

Rushed ending
I invested a lot of time in this series and feel like the end was rushed to just end it. The first 3 books were on a timeline of what, less than a year? then the last book jumps ahead, not once, not twice but 3 times? going from 2 years, then 6 years then 10 years? All that turmoil for it to just jump years? Not impressed. The last couple of chapters just didn't have any details at all. It would've been better to just have ended it with them deciding to not go to vegas and we could've imagined the rest....

Sometimes you have to fight for your happy ending
I love that despite all the obstacles they had to go through, Tessa and Hardin got their happy ending. I’m happy that Anna made it believable, that they had to have some separation and work through all their individual issues before they were able to work through their relationship issues, because this is realistic and believable. I like the way this book tied up all the loose ends, answered all the questions we had from the first three. I’m sad that the Hessa story is over, except I still have Before to read. Yay! The After series of books is the most captivating series I’ve ever read. Anna really knows how to grab your attention from the very beginning and before long she’s got hold of your heart too! You’ll become so vested in her characters that you just can’t put her books down. I discovered After on Wattpad, devouring it all, and then I’ve read all the published books (except Before, which I’m reading next). I’ve reread many sections of both the Wattpad version as well as the S&S published books, because yes, they draw you in that much! They’re just so good, you can’t get enough! Enjoy!

So disappointed
I read this entire series in less than a week, devoting hours to it. Investing in the words...only for the last book to come along and feel as though the author decided she was tired of writing and just wrote the fastest ending possible. It wasn’t fair to the readers or to the characters. Very disappointed.

I’m in love.....
This book series had me spellbound. At the end of After, I was completely hooked, the story had me by the throat. My life stopped for three whole days... nothing got done. When I wasn’t working, I was reading, until the early hours of the morning. This book, the fourth, had me laughing and ultimately crying, the emotions were really that powerful. I connected with Tessa and Hardin to a level that only a few books have taken me to, at times my heart was pounding so hard I could barely breathe. It’s impossible not to fall deeply in love with Hardin Scott. The author inveigled him into my heart and mind so tightly that I found myself dreaming about him.... what the actual hell? The only criticism that I have at all is I feel the American author could have done a little more research into British men. Hardin is English and some of the dialogue was too American for me. A British guy would know how to tie a tie.... he’d have worn one in school, and a band-aid would have been a plaster. Hardin didn’t seem English enough sometimes, but this series possessed me so much that I can’t honestly leave anything but five stars. I had days and days of heart pounding pleasure reading these books.

Book 4 of After series ? Same as book 3?
I am a bit confused. I bought After Ever Happy because I thought it was going to be another book. It appears to me to be a complete recap of book 3 with just an epilogue added on. I read the first three on wattpad so bought this one and before off amazon to read on my kindle. You cannot read After 4 on wattpad so I am a bit annoyed that 4 is almost identical to 3. I enjoyed the series as it improved immensely as it progressed and I was hooked. Can anyone advise me as to whether there is a mixup of the kindle books for this to have happened?

After Ever Happy - full of gaps....so disappointed
I loved the first three books in this series and was really looking forward to losing myself in Hessa in book 4. I was already caught up in the dark twists and turns of their on/off relationship. I was invested in this couple. The title filled me with hope. The story left me broken hearted with more questions than answers. In the interests of fairness, I'll avoid any spoilers. But the story is so full of gaps and lapses in the storyline the reader is already in invested in. What happened the first time Hardin and Vance talked after London? That whole storyline fizzled out like the fire. And as for the whirlwind travel through time at the end......fifty pages-ish to cover over 20years of Hessa. I'm sorry Ms Todd but you've sold us short here. What happened? Did you grow bored with the characters? Run out of time to meet your deadline? You didn't even name Landon's bride? Who was it? Dakota or Sophia? As a fellow contemporary romance author, I get leaving a few teasers in the storyline to pick up in future books but you skipped almost quarter of a century with glaring gaps. Beyond disappointed. As I had bought it, I started book 5 and quickly gave up - for the record, Ms Todd, racoons would not be rummaging in the trash in Hampstead. I closed my kindle.

Great Story, not so great writing.
I’m reviewing all 4 books up until this point, as I read them all back to back, so... very compelling story I couldn’t put it down, but some very sloppy writing. First it’s a black dress she bought for Christmas Day, then it’s a green dress? At one point during Hardins narrative, he speaks one of Tessa’s memories (being at the phone store with Landon) there’s so many inconsistencies throughout, I won’t list them all but it’s like when you say something when you’re drunk and don’t remember so when you’re sober say something completely different. Now to my main disappointment with the whole series - Hardin is English. Not enough research put into this at all. M&S is nothing like target & much more expensive, most houses in England are terraced unless you’re in an estate home, which Trish wouldn’t be as he says how run down her place is, her neighbours house would also just be the same as hers & you can’t just knock houses down to rebuild in England. She wouldn’t make tacos, it’s an American thing, not English. Hardin would call it a street & not a block. No red plastic cups would of been at Marks flat, they’re white in England ... & the list could go on!I also feel that the story ended when they got to Ken’s house after turning around on the way to Vegas. We all knew they’d end up together, most likely with some kids, so everything after the point they arrived at Ken’s was stuff we all knew would happen. A few short paragraphs skipping over their life from this point could have been so so much more. This was the point where we needed more details, as this was the predictable part. I’m glad I never had to read ‘a breath I didn’t know I was holding’ one more time I suppose.Overall it was a very good read, but had the potential to be an absolutely amazing read! I’m left needing to know more & having also read book 5, (I wouldn’t bother, makes absolutely no sense & again contradicting to what we’ve already read) I just don’t think I’m left satisfied after being invested through the story.

A rushed but good ending
Well from the 2nd book I had decided infinitely that I detested Hardin and thought tessa was just ridiculous...who would've known by the end of this book (the after part) I truly like Hardin... his character and improvement was amazing and he turned into such a likeable characterTessa, on the other hand, still ridiculous! Even at 40I dont want to do any spoilers but I felt from tessa moving the prolonged separation wasnt for me, I think this ruined it alot and thats why I did the 4 stars instead of 5 and also quite a lot of missing words and typosIt took me a while to read this book to the end, I went days without reading it, not sure if I was getting drained from reading them all together or because I knew it was coming to an end.All in all, I have loved this series, at times I genuinely couldnt put the book down, well done to the writer, not often I love books this much
