This is a bad use of your money and time
What a ridiculous time-sink. I won't buy a warranty again for purchases under $100.; maybe not even then.I added this warranty on impulse when I purchased a small blender - I thought, "For a few bucks more, I can get a replacement if the product dies." I keep really good records and am persistent. Even even for me, this process was onerous.a. First you have to remember that you even purchased a warranty. I didn't - I discovered it when I looked in my records for the manual. This isn't the provider's fault but I point it out to highlight why buying these warranties is not a good decision. I didn't think it through. They expect that most people won't. Extended warranties almost always = your cash gift to the company.b. Do the search process to figure out how to contact Assurant, and then send the inquiry.c. Respond to their long list of questions. See list below. Apparently, your order # with all the details won't cut it. And though I said what wasn't working in my initial inquiry, they asked for that and more. They're not the manufacturer - they're not sending a product replacement. For example, if I'm within the warranty period, why do they need to know when the problem began? They're either going to honor the warranty or not.d. They don't include and reimburse what you paid for tax or shipping, nor for any discounts or credits you scored when you purchased - ridiculous! Those costs are part of purchasing, replacing any item. So the piddly reimbursement amount didn't include the tax I paid and the credit I'd snagged. For all that time and trouble, I received an $27.29 Amazon gift card on a $35 blender.The Assurant questions:Regarding Amazon Contract: [# removed]We’d be more than happy to start a claim for you. Smooth transaction
Once I was able to talk with an agent, the actual transaction was so smooth and easy - just a few minutes. The hard part was getting to the Agent. I tried the on-line claim form and it was always "can't be reached at this time" or not working at all. I finally found a phone number that got me to an Agent and then they answered immediately and the claim was done in minutes.
