Very useful travel accessory when the power grid is sketchy or entirely absent
I love both the concept and the execution of this product. My son can use it during the school day if he's running short on juice—though the primary reason I purchased it is for travel. It offers the obvious benefit of extending your compatible laptop's battery life when you're in a situation where you can't plug in. And the two extra USB ports allow for charging other devices like phones, tablets and even camera batteries. The less obvious benefit of this device becomes evident when traveling to a country like India with an unstable power supply that is known for electronics-killing voltage spikes and brown outs throughout the day and night. Instead of plugging your laptop or phone into the power grid, you plug in this battery and let it handle the abuse. Then you unplug your fully charged Dell Power Companion and use it to charge your laptop and phone, completely isolated from the sketchy power grid. It's perfect! If there's a downside it is weight. This high capacity battery, like others of its ilk, is heavy. This one comes in right around one pound. For ultralight packers this may be a deal killer. But I'm willing to pay the weight penalty for the added run time and peace of mind that comes from using it.

I got this for my XPS 13 (2015 edition with Skylake CPUs) and it works great. It comes with the power connector that plugs into your device to charge, but it does not come with the cables required to charge the power companion itself. You must charge the power companion with the cables that came with your device. There was a BIOS update available, but I didn't need to update the XPS 13 for the power companion to work. The power companion charges my laptop perfectly. I haven't done any tests to determine how many extra hours I can get, but it lasts long enough that I'm happy with this product. It is also capable of charging cell phones and tablets at the same time. It's a large, but it weighs less than a pound so I don't really notice it in my backpack.I highly recommend this product.

Wont Charge Laptop. Dell Support was useless.
I purchased this in May 2017 but never needed it for the laptop until today, and it failed. Fully charged, turn battery on and it stays on 5-10 seconds, then light around plug into the laptop goes out. Laptop battery gauge in Windows detects something connected and not charging. If I turn it on again, repeats the same sequence. Wasted 45 mins with Dell Support and got nowhere. Support is driven by a service code which doesn't exist for this, and when I provided the laptop service code, it becomes the focus even though no issue exists when using anything other that the Power Companion. It charges my phone and tablet via USB ports, but that's not what I needed or paid the extra dollars to get. If it won't charge my Dell laptop, and I can't get support on it, then it's a waste of time and money.

Power pack
This power pack is great but a little too pricey.

Power Companion
I have owned this back since November 1, 2016. Works as advertised. I was originally worried it was not going to work with my Dell XPS 15 (9550) due to the wattage limitation. it can only provide 90.02W (based on a another reviewers wattage claim who said it is 60 - 65W, that is the battery capacity which is different) but 90 watts meets the bare minimum of the XPS15 (9550). It can charge the computer while using it but your charge amount is not only greatly diminished but also the charge rate. I find that it performs the best when charging the laptop when its either off or in hibernate. While in hibernate, the pack it self was at 100% and took the computers battery from about 15% to +90% the first time I tried it.The fact that I can charge the device with a 7mm or the new 4.5mm barrel jack is a nice feature and allows for a relatively ease of charging the device. (about 2-3 hours when completely discharged) You can also charge the laptop, power pack and the same time. Just be aware that the charging rate to the laptop might be throttled to only 90W instead of 130WThe right angle connectors are great, in fact I wish the original chargers would come with that styleMy real complaint about the device are about the USB ports. Some devices such as tablets or cell phones either don't recognize what it is plugged into or it will not take advantage of the full 2.1A at its disposal for charging and defaults to a 500mA charge rate.

Great Tool for On the Go!
Bought for my Dell laptop and works great! It also has ports for charging my phone and tablets. I have not yet tested the longevity of the battery (such as would be on a long flight) but it seems durable and stable--so I am going to give benefit of the doubt. The only suggestion would be for the manufacturer to add into the instructions the fact that you use the power cord of your laptop or other device to recharge the battery pack--I had to search online to find that tidbit. I will take with me to meetings and not be tethered to an outlet like most people are. If I can find a reason, I would buy a second one--just because...

Great battery, including fast charging USB ports
Great battery, including fast charging USB ports, except when it breaks. Sadly you are forced to buy this battery when you have a Dell Latitude, since regular batteries with the same voltage and connectors won't work or won't be "recognized" by your laptop. I would be happier having the option of buying Anker's products for this laptop.
