More like aluminum brownish black
I like this for aging aluminum work, it has very nice coloration qualities, but sometimes produces more of blackish brown color than black. Sometimes it gives a bit of an etch look to the aluminum, but overall I like it.

Not as good as anodized
If you’re gonna spend the money, might as well anodize the aluminum instead.
