I needed a Dremel tool to shave off the top and bottom plastic tabs as they were too long to fit. Once I shaved off these 2 tabs, it went in easily. After taking off the orig brakelight, flip it over and compare to this replacement and mark both tabs with a Sharpie to mark where to cut off.

they fit as intended and look good, obviously not OEM quality but they’re more than good enough for me.

This is my 2nd one because someone was determined to knock it out at my job! Great fit and cheap! Can't tell the difference.

Exterior fit is good and resembles the original in color, size. Casting is about 90% accurate. There is a slot/relief that is missing which requires a little more persuasion to get the lens into place. Now, having an issue getting the bulb holder to snap into place. Will take a file and adjust where needed. But only you and I will know. Worthwhile purchase, I recommend.Update: photos added to support my review above. Note that the gap around the lens is a little increased, but hardly noticeable. Still would buy again.

It was a complete lens fixture not just the colored plastic. Removed the old one and replaced with this one. Take pictures or memorize how the original was held in place as it's classic BMW squirrelly attachment tabs/clips. It's a tight fit, but when you get it right, it will go in tightly and aligned like the original.

2001 BMW 325i - easy install but tighter fit than original light. Had to work with it to not break the side that ‘clamps’ to the trunk lid opening. Once on, the other side draws down with a nut. It all worked fine and looks much better than the old faded/cracked lens. Good price and quality. Just take your time and don’t pry on it with anything.

Eventually, every E46 will lose these lenses. The glue will fail and the lens will separate from the housing, requiring replacement.The Depo vs. original are almost identical. "Feel" and weight of the plastic is identical on the lens itself. The interior plastic is perhaps just a bit lighter-weight, but it does not have that cheap, injection molded feel.I'd suggest RnR on *both* simultaneously - I only replaced one, and while the color/brightness is identical, asthetically, it is obvious one is bright, shiny and new while the other side has 16 years of weathering.

The price is okay, but kind of cheap quality as far as the fitment. The bulb housing won't snap back in, to lock it. It looks as if the plastic hole wasn't cut down/open far enough. It's annoying. I just pushed it back together as far as possible and put the trunk carpet back up to keep it in place, until I can possibly trim it open more.
