Anything: The Prayer That Unlocked My God and My Soul

This book is a complete life changer! It helped grabbed me out of my complacent, lukewarm Christianity into an abundant and totally surrendered adventure with the God of the universe! It was challenging, and inspiring and exactly the words I needed to hear to be brought closer to God than I ever imagined was possible. There was so much I was holding on to and not trusting the Lord with. Once I was able to sincerely pray "anything" everything in my life changed! My eyes were opened and I could seems circumstances, my relationships, my life, and my God in a whole new way. It has brought me so much freedom. Freedom to pursue the Lord without anything holding me back because I am now willing to give up anything or do anything for the God who has done everything for me and who I can trust to always provide and take care of me. After reading this book, I was so excited about it that I lent it to a friend who had just started coming to church. This book completely changed her as well! She took off, so on fire for God and willing to surrender or do anything for Him. The lives of her children and and her husband the began to change because of the new faith and life that she had. I am so excited that this book was now made into a bible study and can't wait to bring it to all the women at our church for our next women's bible study. I know God will use these truths to change them and draw them to him as completely surrendered and willing servants just as he did for me and my friend. As women in our generation, It's just easy to get distracted with our kids and just trying to survive. But this book helped me get my focus back on Jesus. Back on wanting Him more than anything else! And because of that he has opened up so many doors for me, to show Him and share Him with others. My friend and I took a road trip to hear jennie Allen speak and we were completed and forever changed! We held an if local at our church for the first time this spring and over 150 women came, hungry for the passion for God Jennie Allen helps spread through her speaking, books, and ministry. God is doing huge things and changing lives through her ministry and through this book. Grab some friends or do the study on your own. I will be forever grateful for this book! And I recommend it to every new or seasoned Christian. My life with God is sweeter and stronger and closer than I ever imagined and it's the most amazing gift ever! Can't say enough about this book and the life changing truths and power that you will find inbetween the front and back cover. Amazing!

Anything means “fill in the blank”, right? Well the book’s name is “Anything”,and it is about promising God that we would do anything, which means that God gets to “fill in the blank”, not us. I just finished reading, studying, and praying this book. This book is a bit different from most books. This book can change your life. It can change the way you pray. The author Jennie Allen, promised God she would do anything. She had an extra bedroom in her home,and she said “God, you can do anything with that bedroom”. God said, “Adopt a boy from Rwanda.” So she did.See how that fill in the blank part works? See how that could change your life?This book is more than a story about Jennie Allen’s life. This book is an invitation to change your life.

This is more than Jennie Allen's personal memoir on how she came to understand what "dying to self" means. It's a practical Spirit-filled guide to the:- factors that inhibit us from living such a life,- what praying "Anything" means,- what one's life might look like having prayed it.The book is written in three sections as I've loosely defined them above. And this edition has a very focused and practical study guide that can be used individually and/or in a small group. I found the study very useful as it challenged me to explore the words Jennie had written in each chapter.This edition is an updated version from the original that Jennie published in 2011 so another four or five years have passed and Jennie talks through what has happened to her life during those years. Yes, there have been a few BIG things, for example, the launch of IF: Gathering, however, Jennie makes a point that much of "Anything" revolves around the everyday. It's in the little things, the small moments, where in faith we obey and deny ourselves where we develop the backbone for the potential bigger things that the Lord may have in store for us.This book didn't just stir my spirit but got me on my knees praying my own "Anything" prayer. Not just once, but continually. And I still do most days since finishing the book. The Lord yearns for intimacy with us and letting go of ourselves is the biggest inhibitor to enjoying Him completely. This is what Jennie helps us both understand and in practical ways, using her own life and others, she demonstrates such intimacy is both very possible and achievable.I love these words that come near the end of the book:"God wants to go crazy through us. He waits to unleash His Spirit on people who believe He is real and who believe He is worth it. Who believe heaven is better than earth. Who believe that knowing Jesus is better than any comfort." (page 192)May the Lord find more hearts like Jennie's to go crazy through.

Not my favorite book. But it was worth reading.

If your looking for a book that gets down to the real deal and challenges you like never before, you must read Anything. This book opened my eyes and woke up my soul. Don't get me wrong praying Anything is nothing to take lightly but Jennie will take you on a journey in this book. A journey that we as believers need to take. We don't want to wake up on the other side of eternity and realized we've missed it. We missed what God has called us too. Jennie is so passionate and has such intensity in her writing that she will get the quietest soul fired up. She will challenge you to step out in faith and trust our Jesus, to do exactly what His Word expects us too. This book will push you but I think it's the push we as believers need. I know I did.

Hard hitting book that was fantastic for getting to the point of things we all need to hear. Really enjoyed it and felt changed by it.

The subtitle says it all! Seriously ... This prayer has CHANGED my life. It was a scary prayer for me to pray ... But it has been so so worth it. If you are ready to do ANYTHING for Jesus .. This is a must read :)

A simple personal experience of God with some real examples.

A challenge for sure. Thankful for it and all God can do in and through me when I surrender to Him.
