Hooray for Diffendoofer Day!

This book is for kids in school who read with a loved adult. We both love this book.
I gave this book to my 7 year old nephew who is learning fast how to read. He does like his school but Diffendorfer School has such crazy things that are part of every single day. It helps him be creative and even realize he doesn’t need to be like anyone else. We giggle through this book and never get tired of it.

Sort of a weak message
Cute book, but I think I was expecting more out of it. I wanted it to go more into the "we taught you how to think" aspect. It does describe creative teachers, and mentions a standardized exam, but overall the purpose of the book didn't resonate with me.

7th&8th graders loved!
My 7th and 8th grade Mild/Moderate Special Education Resource ELA class loved this book. They love nothing, but I genuinely saw engagement, participation, excitement, and questions when I presented them with a Comprehension Worksheet. This was one of my most successful lessons this last school year, and it will be a lesson every year, in some fashion.

Great book for teacher appreciation gift.
We gave this to my daughter's first grade teacher as an end of the year, teacher appreciation gift. She loved it. The story is engaging and all about being reassured that you are prepared which is so important given all that first graders learn and have to take with them as they move onto second. We had a very special teacher that encouraged the class in their studies as well as their activities and accomplishments outside of the classroom. She so reminds me of the teacher in the story. I also appreciated the epilogue about how Dr. Seuss started the story but never finished and then moved onto his last work, Oh the Places You Will Go! Being a big Dr. Seuss fan, that was nice to read about. I highly recommend this for reading to children and also giving as teacher gifts.

Which school would you want more for your child?
I almost sent this book to the White House and the Dept. of Education when the prior administration was in office with a note saying, "We need change in our educational systems". This is an AWESOME book to bring attention to poor quality education. It brings light to when a system takes away a teacher's ability to be creative to teach and they can't teach subject matter that matters. All parents please read and discuss. Demand better from your schools.

Hooray for this book!
I bought this book for teacher appreciation week for two teachers and they both loved it. I admit I read them before I gifted them and It is an amazing story of teaching children to think differently and to be confident in what they learn, my favorite line is "we taught you how to think" Mrs. Bonkers is a wonderful teacher and all the characters have special talents. The teachers LOVED this book, I was there when one of the teachers read it to the class, a second grade class and the kids were laughing out loud and the fact that the book has the original sketches and background history in it really impressed the teacher, she was so excited. This book is great for teachers or parents, I admit after giving the teachers their book I had to buy my own copy :)

Hooray...hooray
This is a great book, and it's not just for kids. I bought it for my school principal. It speaks to those of us who have to deal with the anxiety of test scores. Great for kids...even better for teachers and other adults.

I use this when I speak at graduation ceremonies for teachers.
Thinking out of the box....the true legacy of Dr. Seuss. Not one way of teaching - but multiple ways of teaching to excite a child and have them truly enjoy learning. A great teacher goes beyond teaching to a minimal state test. A great teacher teachers their students "to think." Our children are not robots and one size never fits all. I am a clinical faculty member working with teachers in a teacher preparation program which trains teachers to be "diffendooferous" and to always grow, learn, and think out of the box for the benefit of their students. This book is a perfect way to sum up the experience. I have even animated a PowerPoint presentation to go with this dynamic reading which is a big hit at our graduation ceremony each semester. Thank you for this wonderful book.

A delightful read
Brilliant book - not much of a fan or dr Seuss at all. However, this is one of the most delightful picture books in my collection. Definitely an underrated narrative as the story it tells is one that reminds educators of the “grass roots” of what teaching is about.

Amazing book
Brilliant book with a great message. Very good for teachers/anybody training as a teacher. Very similar to 'Ooh, the places you'll go) which I think should be compulsory reading!
